So after this trilogy has finish I'm presuming the next X-Men movies will essentially be a reboot?
"First Class" was a reboot.
Then they've released "The Wolverine" which was set in the original continuity and f' it up.
Then they've released a "kinda reboot" film in the FC continuity with actors from original continuity to "make it official".

Original:
X-Men (2000) => X2 => The Last Stand => The Wolverine

FC:
First Class => Days of Future Past => Apocalypse

__

"Origins: Wolverine" is a mistake and so far we don't know where "Deadpool" fits.

I think both winter soldier and days of future past are great flicks. But I think civil war looks way better so far. But to be fair I didn't think DoFP looked good from the trailers.

So I'm open to being surprised again.

You should teach a class in X-menology because now the third Cyclops actor finally makes sense.

At least it wasn't two little groups of people running in a field like Twilight. So I'll give that to Singer. "Better action than Twilight." Good job. :lol

*ahem*

Teams running at each other was X-Men long before Twilight did it.

I think X Men will be a better film than Civil War, but CW will have better action. I always find the X Men films more interesting than the Marvel/Disney films. They also have better characters, better themes, and story...but they lack great action. As far as the bad looking cgi in the trailer, the same happened with the future scenes from DOFP. I remember people saying that the future scenes looked like Mortal Kombat Annihilation, but after all that criticism, the film was great. I'm surprised there's so much destruction in this X MEN film. Who or what is causing it?

X-Men has had good action but it's never been that "big".

It's best action scenes are usually one vs many. Nightcrawler vs Secret Service, Wolverine vs Stryker Troops, Quicksilver vs CIA. This looks like there'll be more team action with the X-Men vs the Horsemen.

The future action against the Sentinels was awesome imo. Best teamwork scenes thus far.

It's an X-Men movie, all destruction will just be reversed or its a vision of the fewcha.

The Missiles in the spot are bound to be from Jeans "end of the world" dream/vision.

X-Men and Cap have been cinematic rivals since 2011 and X-Men always wins, and from my understanding on most of the major rating sites the general audience rates X-Men better too

If Civil War outrates this it'll be a first for a Cap movie

X2 I won't count since it's before the MCU but I think that movie tends to get overlooked in the action department a lot, people forget how great the Mansion attack and Nightcrawler's introduction was.

That was chock-a-block full of great action.

It had the genre-best Nightcrawler vs CIA, Mansion attack, the Tornados,Mystiques unique martial arts and Wolverine vs Deathsryke.mthe only bad action scene was Cyclops vs Jean. Even small and quick scenes like Magneto blowing up a whole squad of Stryker troops by pulling the pins on their grenades were brilliant.

Saw the TV spot. Looks good. But already annoyed with J-Law's phoned in performance from the short snippets we've seen of her in these trailers.

Yeah she looks so bored and ungrateful. You can tell she's sick of franchises and is just doing it out of obligation at this point.

But it was mentioned in one of the films that Mystique ages really slow IIRC.

Hell Mystique could be 90 years old by now and make herself look like a Mid-twenties lady.

So after this trilogy has finish I'm presuming the next X-Men movies will essentially be a reboot as the story will pick up at the time of the original X-Men 2000 movie?

Not a reboot since that already happened. What likely will happen is they'll have the new Cyclops, Jean and Storm be the mains and move it forward to the nineties.

This is pretty much a perfect summary of where things are.

Two timelines, we're occupying in the second one and anything is possible between 1973 and 2023 as long as Wolverine, Xavier, Jean, Storm, Rogue, Iceman, Kitty Pryde, Colossus and Beast are alive in (or killed at some point and ressurected by) 2023.

Deadpool takes place in 2016 of this new post-DOFP timeline. So it takes place after the events of Apocalypse but before Wolverine waking up in 2023 at the end of Days of Future Past.

Seeing how the present day timeline got nuked, I don't think it will.

Present day timeline is shown in the Deadpool movie, not nuked.

Just read this which sounds awesome.

Hoult came up with an idea on set, in the spur of the moment, for Jean to use Scott’s head like a 50 cal during an action sequence, since Scott can’t control his powers yet.

______

And a new actor cast as Wolverine?

Well Jackman is still Wolverine in the series in both timeline so when he's recasted it's gonna be different than the young/old recasting we've got so far and just a straight up replacing.

What's been great about this franchise is they've recasted most roles but haven't had to replace them.

So we've had Stewart as Xavier and Mcavoys didn't replace Stewarts but played the same character at a different point in time.
So we got to have cake and eat it too.

With Wolverine there'll be no such luck as he's kinda ageless so only one actor and getting a new actor means no more Jackman whereas with Magneto we can have Fassbender and Mckellen as the character

Basialcally what I mean is they never recasted Romijns Mystique, they cast Lawrence as a young Mystique but it wasn't a recasting really

Well, they could always go the Ultimate route and introduce Jimmy Hudson, or the 616 route with Daken.

With Jackman being so iconic in the role and not being able to have young Wolverine and Old Wolverine like with other characters I'd prefer the have a different character replace Jackmans Gruff, Claw-wielding badass such as one of his Sons or X-23.

Have one of them as the new Wolverine-esque character instead of recasting the character

You can write out Jackman and bring in one of his children as the new Wolverine. Then, when the Shared Universe is over and it's time to move on, you can bring him back for a cameo of some sorts to establish that the DOFP ending is still in-continuity. Personally, I'd prefer Daken to Jimmy, but his history is a bit too convulted, so he'll need some tweaking.

And the thing is with Wolverine being so ageless they can have one of his Sons or X-23 born/cloned at anytime so they could been teen-ish like Cyke and co or Fassbender age or in between ect.

I'd love it if The Wolverine sequel had at its core Wolverine discovering he's been cloned or has a kid out there. It would be cool story-wise and could set up one of those characters

Yeah, that could work. Problem is, now that Wolverine 3 will probably be Old Man Logan, how are you going to introduce his replacement? In the next X-Men movie? Possibly, but it'd take away from the "larger" plot so to speak.

I agree but the thing with introducing such characters is you can't do it without Wolverine and it would have great impact introducing them as Jackmans sires than of a recasted actor as audiences have been familiar with Jackman in the role for 16 years

So if not introduced by the time he leaves the role then it makes it much more difficult to do so

I think they made a bad decision not having Wolverine as a full main character in such a pivotal film in the series. Whether is be Jackman or a new guy.

True. You can't have Jackman dissappear and then introduce his offspring without even having him cameo. Since they knew Hugh was gonna leave, they should have already put the seeds in for the new Wolverine. Who knows, maybe they'll pave the way for it in Wolverine 3.

This. He's got a cameo that we know of in this, but they can't just spring it on us in the next trilogy or whatever with some new guy coming in to interact with the current cast. It's like when someone leaves a TV show, but they keep the character with a new actor... ew.

Re: DEADPOOL MOVIE

At the last meeting of the comic book club (ages 11 through 18) I sponsor at school I asked what movie the club wanted to go see next and I was actually shocked at the answers and the comments I heard when I brought up going to go see X-Men: Apocalypse.

The older members said they're getting tired of the black costumes, JLaw and it's boring. :horror They wanted to go see BVS.

The younger members said that X-Men was confusing but liked the action.

Now I get the younger members but the older members reaction was really surprising to me. :huh

Re: DEADPOOL MOVIE

It's just a thang Snoop nothing more.

They'll come crawling back when it's hip and cool again.........are these words in at the moment??? :gandalf_w
