Don't see how comparing the action in a predator movie from the 80s to a modern day superhero movie works out. Predator had some damn awful cgi when he used his shoulder cannon the FX looked like they were crayola'd in after. The practical FX were good..the costumes...but obviously that predator was very static. He was a good match for a peak human character.

Spider-man has to move faster and more agile than any human does. His reflexes and acrobatic ability are beyond practical fx. They made a Spider-Man movie or show in the 60s with practical fx. He didn't look very super.

:lol :lol :lol

I think you're referring to the 77 Nicholas Hammond movie. :lol

But yeah, you're right.

Watch that then go watch ASM2 free fall and swingng in 3D! Quite the contrast! :lol

Yeah, I wouldn't trade Predator, Aliens, Die Hard, Raiders, T2 for anything BUT they are not dependent on advances in cgi to make them work, they were awesome human characters who did incredibly heroic actions overcoming their obstacles.

Flash I want to see run fast, Vision shoot awesome lasers from his forehead, Black Panther do triple round house kicks, Spidey swing thru manhattan and so on and so forth.

Yarp.

If you want to make an action movie that holds up over the years, make a movie with a good story and without CGI, matte paintings, separation overlay, studio sets for outdoor areas, or too many miniatures.

In other words, make First Blood. :yess: :lol

I think the problem with something 'dating' is where the movie is style over substance. Style dates, substance usually doesn't, so it becomes more noticeable when your movie is brainless fluff. Thus certain CG fest blockbusters from recent years will be considered hokum in years to come.

A- From this guy is pretty great for me

I tend to agree with him 95% of the time

Most other reviews are ambiguous ramblings of butt hurt critics that probably never opened up a comic book
