Remember what I said about Singer and second unit directors a couple of months back. Guarantee that's going to pop up in the coming weeks after all this criticism. I wonder how they're going to spin the blu ray documentaries.

Woah wait I don’t remember any of this, what happened?

Did you mean to paste your Fant4stic review in the X-Men thread?

I didn’t want to mention F4 because this movie isn’t nowhere near that bad, but the structure of the film is similar to that. Now F4 is just a horrible movie, from beginning to end, but there was potential there, the first half while still sucking could have been redeemed by a solid 3rd act, instead things got even worse :lol

Apocalypse for a majority of the movie was excellent in my opinion at least. I thought on par with DOFP, but after the Quicksilver scene, things go downhill. It’s almost as if Singer didn’t direct everything past that, but he’s been so inconsistent in his career that I wouldn’t put it past him that he did. I kid you not, the 3rd act of this movie really feels like Brett Ratner directed it.

Well, I saw it and I don’t really know how I would score it. Most of the film is excellent, but man, that third act was so bad it ruined the entire movie for me. The action, the acting, dialogue, just everything in the final battle felt like it was directed by Brett Ratner. It was so bad that it ruined just about everything that came before it.

Its definitely not as bad as X3 but everything in the 3rd act is on that level or even worse. Its a shame because most of the movie is actually pretty good.

My question is this, now that we are three movies into this reboot of sorts, which is the better trilogy?

X1/2/3

or

FC/DOFP/XMA

pturtle go!

Ok ok...a-dev go! :lol

Where in the world is kara sandiego?!

Ooooh. I think FC and DOFP were particularly outstanding so I might give it to the ''reboot'' despite a very underwhelming third film.

i think the FC trilogy for sure. X2 to me is still way better than all the movies in the franchise, X1 isn’t nowhere near as good FC and DOFP, and Apocalypse is better than X3.

If you take out the Quicksilver scene is Apocalypse still better than X3?

Absolutely, the QS scene wasn’t even my favorite scene in the movie. I though the most of the movie was very good until after that point. Whats crazy is that the 3rd act isn’t that bad because of story or anything, its just horribly directed, the action, editing, even the acting just feels so off compared to what was happening earlier on in the movie.

Another thing, Jen Lawrence isn’t in the movie much, but her story is pretty annoying and feels very forced. The first 70% of the movie she’s barely in though.

I just want to hear pturtle admit that Singer directed an X-Men film that flat out sucks compared to what we're seeing in the MCU.

Say it, say it, SAY IT!!!! AH, AHH, AHHHHHHHHHH!!!

So Sophie Turner is the actual female lead of the movie? :clap

Glad to read J Law isn't in it as much as I thought she'd be.

It really is a larger budget version of Fantastic Four.

I don’t think the movie is horrible, but the last 40 minutes are extremely bad in my opinion. Singer did a horrible job closing out the movie no doubt about it. I’d still take this movie over The First Avenger, Both Avengers, Antman, both Thors, the Iron Man sequels etc…

But its not as good as Civil War because of those horrible last 40 minutes, everything before that was better than CW in my opinion. Overall though, CW is definitely a more consistent film and a better film because of that.

Yea, She plays a more important part than Mystique does in the movie. To be honest, I don’t think J Law is a good actress at all, but the Mystique role its just horrible, I doubt any actress could make it work. Its just so forced, but I guess its forced because J Law is the actress. Honestly she was just as bad in this as she was in DOFP, I don’t know why critics are now saying she’s phoning it in, she was never good as Mystique and she was actually at her absolute worst in First Class. The last scene of the movie is so bad because of her though, and it has nothing to do with her acting.

It really is a larger budget version of Fantastic Four.

No way :lol

F4 had no redeeming qualities, nothing. The first 2 acts of Apocalypse were really good, but everything after that really ruined the movie for me.

Singer just deleted this tweet:

:lol :lol :lol

Nevertheless I'm actually still looking forward to it. I fully expect it to be this year's Genisys and I plan to be entertained. :lol

Nah man, believe its nowhere near that bad, at least not until the end. I think most people will enjoy everything up until after Wolverines appearance. It genuinely a good movie until the whole final battle, thats where Singer just went crazy :lol

Yeah, I sure as hell wouldn't put this alongside TFA, Avengers and the like. TDW, AoU, IM2 and those flicks sure. But the former ones? Nope. Apocalypse has tons of problems. It's cheesy at far too many moments, too many actors phone it in, J-Stique, Magneto's heel turn, it's all mess. A 7/10 is very, very generous as far as I'm concerned.
