But I did enjoy and appreciate the X3 joke. :lol

Honestly since this movie only referenced events from DOFP and FC I actually took it as Singer mocking his own film.

I guess I'd say that it was a decent way to spend a couple hours for one viewing. Like others I don't see myself watching this again anytime soon. It wasn't horrible or anything, maybe a 5.5 out of 10 or so. I actually wasn't bothered by Jennifer Lawrence. She always looks so dumb in that blue make-up that I didn't mind that she looked normal for most of the movie.

Lawrence had no place in the film. After DOFP they should have just stopped with Mystique's arc.

But did anyone have an arc? It kind of felt like they all just took turns sceaming with their eyes closed while they each unleashed their respective powers.

Magneto had the best arc and overall writing. His scenes in Poland were perfect and more evocative of the cerebral tone that made DOFP & First Class so great.

If only the whole movie was like that.

I'm on the fence about the Poland sequence. Fassbender did a great job acting-wise but it seemed a little weird to have Magneto end DOFP a bad guy, then be good in this movie, only to have another tragedy turn him bad just so he could dramatically be redeemed at the end? That felt weird. It seems like it would have been a lot smoother if they just left him the villain he was in DOFP until the end of XMA instead of the constant back and forth.

Oh boy. Jye's back on the Faraci. Intervention FAIL.

Did they cut Magneto's "Who the **** are you?" line from the SDCC teaser? That line was terrible and out of character for Magneto. Wolverine talks like that, not Magneto.

I'm definitely waiting for this to hit video rental. The reviews and lukewarm fan reaction are just reinforcing what I expected after seeing the trailers.

I thought it was one heck of a stretch that the guy with the bow and arrow:

accidentally skewered both Magneto's wife and daughter with one random shot. Talk about a convenient plot device. I'm almost surprised that the arrow didn't poke out the mom and impale the family dog and Eric's two prize goldfish.

He's not really a villain though. He's a conflicted man who's trying to stop fighting and find peace. The stuff in Poland did a great job showcasing just how hard it is for him to do that.

Even McKellen Magneto would go to the Senate hearings hoping human society wouldn't force his hand.

I did like how Magneto tried Professor's lifestyle. i also loved him yelling at god asking if this was what he's supposed to be. Heavy duty memorable emotional stuff that is then unfortunately ruined by his turn to good for no reason whatsoever, QS didn't even
tell him about him being his son
so why did he all of a sudden turn good is beyond me, it made no sense and ruined his turn to bad.

Huge stretch for me, it looked like he barely released it. Frustrated at the movie, probably because how much better the movies could be. I wish Singer would find a new hobby franchise.

At least Fox gets to enjoy another Disney misfire. Alice Through The Looking Glass is tracking to hit about $40 million for the weekend compared to XMA's $90 million.

Poor X-Men, the best they can muster is a 747 million gross for DOFP which is spot # 71, which is 6 below Deadpool. :lol

I honestly don't ever see an XM movie under Fox breaking 1B.

I'm guessing this is syonara for Singer.

I'll be honest i'm pretty content with the 2016 offerings so far minus Deadpool.

This movie was still entertaining enough for me.

The last thing on my mind when I watch a movie is how much it makes. I'm just looking for a good movie.

Deadpool making bank was good for the genre because it opened the door to the R-rating again (last one was the awful Punisher: War Zone) but even then I wasn't watching it and estimating numbers, hoping for $1 Billion.

That's part of the problem with the current consensus on what makes a successful CBM. So what if DOFP didn't gross $1 Billion? Its a fantastic movie. Same goes for First Class which made half of that.

Massive returns don't guarantee quality.

Agreed on both counts.

So far in 2016:

1. Captain America: Civil War
2. The VVitch
3. 10 Cloverfield Lane
4. The Jungle Book
5. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
6. X-Men: Apocalypse

7. Deadpool
