Hollywood has done the "Being thousands of years old wakes up in the present and walks around waving hands causing destruction" thing a number of times now and it never seems to make for a very good movie. Three (or however many) Mummy movies, End of Days, Queen of the Damned, X-Men: Apocalypse, etc.

The first Ghostbusters was the only one to get it right.

Eh, I agree, Kinberg is a terrible writer, and I know he really didn't have much to do with DOFP success but I think the blame here falls on Singer. He worked with his X2 writers, and seemed pretty confident in the movie.

Either way, one underwhelming movie and 3 good to great ones won't change my mind on Singer's talent and what he done for this franchise. I'd like to see him direct the next movie if he wanted to, or bring Vaughn back.

I do agree that Kinberg needs to go though.

When the kids left the theater after watching Return of the Jedi I think it would have been more clever to have them pass a poster for Superman III (which was in theaters at the same time as Jedi) instead of Romancing the Stone (a 1984 film.) Could have been good for a chuckle considering Singer made his own version of SMIII.

No way, but X2 was the first to do it so originality points go to X2

Outside of Cap, Iron Man, Bucky, Black Panther and maybe Scarlett Witch the rest of the characters were there for the airport scene, they didn't really have much to do outside of that and had no real connection to the plot.

Good point that one reviewer made with regard to Apoc's 90's era make-up compared to the shockingly good look of the Vision (who isn't even a main character in his respective film.)

And was anyone else bummed that we didn't get to see Magneto exact his revenge on the steel workers? I was braced for some messed up **** and then Apoc walks in and is all "Quicksand, all of you!" and then they just casually disappear into the ground.

Unfortunately I've only seen CW once and I've seen X2 at least 5 times so I can't provide a detailed argument. I'm just going to yell UNDERROOS and hope that jye answers the call. :lol

Kinberg and Goyer need to fired

I thought Goyer was gone

What's funny is that XMA is really just the third straight superhero movie *this summer* about heroes fighting each other due to the actions of a third party bad guy. Two of the villains even have almost the exact same name (Doomsday/Apocalypse.) It was a huge mistake to bring back a boring character like Angel, IMO. BvS snuck in WW and CW called the big gun Spidey himself. XMA should have dropped the new Gambit in Angel's place.

Angel is a pretty popular character among X-Man fans, though... Particularly female Millennials.

After witnessing Anthony Mackie wrapping himself up in bullet proof wings in midair while spinning to attack bad guys who were unloading assault rifles at him it was awesome to then see Angel pounding on people with feathers.

Apoc strikes again
