Elba would be amazing as Apocalypse. He has that soothing, deep voice that sounds calm but stern. Bring it.

Tom Hardy would be great, I would take him over Idris Elba, but if either of the two get picked I'm happy. Hardy is one of the best actors working today.

Not familiar with that guy, but since Apocalypse is supposed to be a Middle Eastern guy, at least he has the look unlike, say, Tom Hardy or Idris.

Yep. He was awesome in Inside Llewyn Davis and in Drive. He's also in The Force Awakens apparently.

I've seen him in a few movies, he has a lot of range, I think he's playing a villain in Star Wars also.

If he's not going to look like the comic version, then I don't think the specific look of the actor portraying him matters very much. Few would have strong opinions about it. If he is playing a more comic version, then he's going to have makeup and wacky armor all over that would hide much of his features. So again, the look of the actor portraying him wouldn't matter very much. Going for someone with acting chops makes sense, so I hope that is the case with this guy. I don't remember him in Drive, though that movie was pretty forgettable in general apart from the great Albert Brooks. . .who should have been cast as Apocalypse.

The voice to me is more important to nail down than whoever plays him. You could get anybody in a mo-cap suit to physically portray Apocalypse, but the voice needs to be spot on. I look back on X-Men Animated fondly and how they nailed the character perfectly.

If the key is the voice, then they should just CG the guy and get a professional voice actor to handle it! Or, he could just speak through a vocoder.
