And again it really was like Se7en where you don't want the character who is receiving the horrifying news to go crazy but you know that that would 100% be the natural reaction.
Would have been a better reference to Seven if instead of seeing that video, Zemo had Paltrow's severed head in a box, and they showed that Bucky was somehow responsible. Then, I think Tony's reaction would have been slightly more understandable.

Even better response :)

If Tony had killed Bucky it would have been more dramatic sure, but Ween would've been crying for weeks non stop since she loves her some Sebastian Stan, so for that reason alone I think they made the right call.

And I'm not comparing outcome of the scenes to each other but the feeling of anticipated **** going down once a lead character is manipulated into a situation where he finds out how a loved one was murdered and the murderer happens to be right there!

I felt sick when the revelation came. Didn't know it was coming and the episodic nature of this series gave it more weight imo than you'd get from a character in one movie. Howard Stark has loomed over the MCU since IM1. It felt like a gut punch.

I definitely felt sick for Tony.

Yep, just what I was getting at.

Yup. But this being a series it is dramatically more interesting to have Barnes survive rather than go for the shock value death. Inevitably those two will meet again.

That's what I thought about Coulson when they brought him back for AoS.
:gah:

:lol :lol :lol

Hi everyone, ummm...meet my dad.

I could see that turning into a horror situation very quickly. Ewoks attacking Vader like a bunch of critters

That would've been too meta.

I liked that the 1991 footage featured Bucky on a Harley since that was the default mode of transportation for all cyborgs who hunted humans that year.

$136 million domestic total and it's just about done. Talk about a true flop..........

It's really sad when something makes that kind of money and is considered a flop. :lol

I'm sure the studio is fine with almost a half a billion, so far.

No.

There's no shock value in Tony avenging his mother. None. Its completely justified.

This is like saying Clint Eastwood killing Gene Hackman in UNFORGIVEN was shock value. Or Leonardo DiCaprio killing Tom Hardy in THE REVENANT was shock value. Or Brad Pitt killing Kevin Spacey in Se7en was shock value.

If there was ever a reasonable and vindicating time for someone to die in the MCU this was it and they epically wasted it so Bucky could FREEZE himself until the next time the studio wants his metal arm on a movie poster.

Again, Civil War had no teeth. That doesn't refer to them not killing Cap or the notion of killing in general. Its about allowing a story to be impacting and emotionally resonant. In this case, Tony & Cap's stories. Bucky's death would have affected those two severely. A victory for one and a failure for the other.

Instead we get that bull**** apology letter.

But remember, folks, Civil War is a cinematic masterpiece. (Laughs hysterically)

The difference being that the scene from Se7en actually went somewhere. Mills executed John Doe.

Tony just ripped off Bucky's prosthetic arm. Good job, Marvel.

Tony should have killed Bucky with Steve watching, unable to help. Then have the moment Steve beats Tony down but refuses to kill him.

That would have been impacting. That would have left the theater in silence. It would crush the bond and respect between Steve and Tony forever. Irreparable damage. I would have taken that over Cap's death.

But no, Marvel/Disney can't even keep Coulson dead.

**** it, at least over at FOX we have Magneto brilliantly executing Shaw.

Jeepers Creepers... What the hell comic movie takes it to that extreme???? Magneto killing Shaw was great but it's nothing like the scenario you just made.

What the hell comic movie...

That's where you lost me.

Just because you're watching a CBM doesn't mean you can't expect a serious tone and a meaningful, impacting story.

TDK proved that eight years ago.
