I don't know that the series needs to be rebooted, but they reserve the option to do that after establishing an alternate timeline/reality anyway, so it's possible a kind of "soft" reboot will happen. If there's one thing I would like to see more of with this series, it's an embrace of the fantastic stuff, including the aesthetic approach taken--i.e., no more black leather suits or vacuum cleaner villains in the pursuit of "realism." But in general I like what they've done with the Singer and Vaughn stuff. Much better than what we've seen them do with FF, or what WB has done with DC.

Freeing up the continuity and allowing the FC cast to continue with perhaps younger version of Cyclops and co being introduced at so e point in perhaps more colourful outfits certainly allows them to essentially reboot without the backlash of a full reboot.

I'd love if they maintained having both young and old versions of the characters while not having them in the same movie. Kinda like the old cast for more fantastical movies set in an alternate reality and the younger cast for more character-driven societal movies or vice versa.

This will be rebooted in a few ways when Fassbender and McAvoy move on and if the gambit movie spinoff fails .

Would definitely be cool to see both teams preserved. Even if not in various time lines I'd like to see the originals in a series and then the next core with storm, wolverine, colossus, nightcrawler, rogue, etc... hell, maybe even have Rogue start out as an enemy, establish her as more than... well, whatever she was supposed to be in X1.

I found one of him in full comic oufit, but it was so huge, I passed it up, but yeah, Batflek definitely has center stage atm.

What exactly does Fox own in terms of characters? There's been so many different members of the X-Men so I wouldn't complain about them simply replacing the aging cast members with different mutants along the way. I think it's clear though that marvel will probably never sell off their character rights to studios anymore so a reboot may be their only option if it's not a very expansive list.

What are the chances that Emma Frost will return? Hopefully January Jones comes back for this one since Mad Men is over now.

Well in a clip Magneto mentions in a rather emotional scene that they (he and Xavier) failed to protect them (Emma and a few others from First Class)

This essentially means that they could've been killed and can't return or that something unfortunate happened to them that Magneto and Xavier didn't prevent in which case they can return.

So at the moment it's left ambiguous.

Oh, definately. Tatum was awesome in 21 Jump Street. But that's because he's playing a border line retarded man child who's on hallucinogenic drugs. Every other role I've seen him in, he's attrocious.

Reboot isn't happening, Fox already has Wolverine 3, Gambit, Deadpool, X-Force, and possibly a Mystique spinoff in development, everyone should get used to the cast and Universe we have now, because fox is most likely sticking with them for quite sometime.

He was fine in Side Effects, The Eagle, and Magic Mike. He also seems to be doing a fine job in Jupiter's Ascending.

Also, it's not like Gambit is a hard character to nail, all Channing needs to do is nail the ascent which I'm sure he'll do, the rest should just be cool phrases and awesome one liners while looking badass the whole time.

:exactly:

From what's being said in some reviews, DOFP freshens up the franchise and basically concludes the first chapter of the X-Saga and kickstarts the second.

I'm really excited for this franchise's direction, and love how they are making the transition to the younger cast, with a beloved X-Men time travel story. I didn't know that Mystique was getting a solo movie, but they've always done a great job with her, so that's something to look forward to. My problem with the previous movies, was that I wanted more characters to get a bit more screen time and fleshed out a bit more. They didn't need a lot, because how they showed Bobby, Nightcrawler, and Rogue was great, but Storm didn't really have defining traits to me. Just have her calling herself a goddess a lot, and that would tell us about her ego, and maybe question where it comes from. It would have been an interesting dynamic with her and Nightcrawler, since he's Catholic. It's tough since there are so many X-Men, and the villains are just as interesting. Fox needs to stop everything and start pumping these out like crazy! Kidding! I like how things are going, and can't wait for the new Jean and Cyclops!

Like Jeff Wadlow suggested, they should be focusing on teams films instead of solo films except for the major characters.

It would be a great way to introduce numerous characters and build a universe faster, without rushing things.

I agree with both you guys! Which incarnation of X-Force are you hoping for Uncanny W-S? I never watched X-Men origins, but I heard Ryan Reynolds was great casting for Deadpool, despite the direction they took. How did you feel about him?
