Avatar is one of the highest grossing films of all time... and next to no one bought Jake. Success in the box office doesn't immediately guarantee Hot Toys sales.

Or you could also compare it to the Avengers where even a character like Phil Coulson sold out.

Also Jake Sully didn’t do well because of the exposed joints. I also don’t know many people that actually care about Avatar that much. I think it was popular because of the 3d tech it was pushing at the time.

Well you're comparing this to Avengers sales, which is silly.

I really don't think the exposed joints meant much for the Avatar guy's sales. That was an amazing looking figure, just not a film people wanted high end figures from. With Coulson, many of the crazy Marvel/Iron Man collectors are completionists who want everybody. Plus, Coulson was produced in relatively small numbers anyway, being a Sideshow exclusive, and still took awhile to sell out.

So it’s okay to compare to the highest grossing movie of all time, but not the 3rd highest grossing movie of all time? You guys just have to say something bad, even if it makes no sense.

I know, I said I don’t think Avatar is actually that popular. Sequels are coming out, and I rarely see anyone talk about it. But this is a superhero film, so like the Avengers, X-Men fans would likely buy it if the figure looks good, and the films are well received and successful. Peter Dinklage is also big right now.

No, it's reasonable expectations. It's quite clear this won't do as well as the Avengers, and saying that a Trask figure would do well is just silly. The only characters that would sell well for sure are Wolverine & Magneto.

I didn’t say this would do well for sure. I said I can see it doing well. It would be a unique figure of a popular actor right now who is the main antagonist in the most anticipated superhero film of the summer. Why would it selling well be so unbelievable? I think if the film is as good as most expect, than most of the figures from the franchise would sell pretty good.

Jen Lawrence’s Mystique, both Professor X’s, both Magneto’s, both Wolverines, Trask, Sentinel would all sell well.

Unless Trask came with a Sentinel, I can't see anyone being bothered to buy it.
