I didn’t say this would do well for sure. I said I can see it doing well. It would be a unique figure of a popular actor right now who is the main antagonist in the most anticipated superhero film of the summer. Why would it selling well be so unbelievable? I think if the film is as good as most expect, than most of the figures from the franchise would sell pretty good.

Jen Lawrence’s Mystique, both Professor X’s, both Magneto’s, both Wolverines, Trask, Sentinel would all sell well.
I don't think most of the characters you list are iconic enough for HT to make or for a lot of people to buy (and we know part of why HT didn't do Star Trek is because of the samey costumes - these ones are even worse). And Trask... Don't know what you're thinking on that one. Dinklage is an awesome actor, but no way.

You also keep saying it's the most anticipated comic book movie of the summer but I'm not feeling it. There's no buzz and no-one I know is talking about it as was the case with, say, Avengers or TDKR. I could see this movie not doing well, to be honest.

Yeah, the only X-Man Hot Toys has released ever is Wolverine, twice. Both of those failed to sell out for awhile, and he's their biggest star by a long shot. They are dragging their feet with Prof. X and Magneto, I'm guessing because they don't have faith they will sell and aren't in a rush to lose out on money Iron Man repaint #95 is going to get them instead. So, it's nice to think HT might start directing their attention to this franchise, but it doesn't seem particularly likely.

That's why I bring up people like Phil Coulson.

If his figure can sell out, then I think the main villain of an X men movie played by a popular actor can do pretty well, if priced right of course. We haven't watched the film yet, maybe he will be iconic.

Magneto maybe, but not some half pint.

No, Coulson was an important complement to an incredibly successful line (he became a fan favorite character--the heart of the franchise really, and the other Avengers characters minus those with huge production numbers and existing variants flew off the shelves), and a cheap and easy to manufacture exclusive (regular body, basic suit, minimal new sculpting) with a relatively small run. You're asking for a midget, requiring a new body, in a boring suit, from a film and character that may or may not be popular, from a franchise that has had received extremely limited attention and success from Hot Toys. It's apples and oranges trying to compare this to Coulson.

As others have mentioned, though, Avengers was a massive blockbuster and Coulson was a small run and didn't require a custom body, like Trask would.

Both Wolverines were pretty underwhelming figures and based on the worst movies of the franchise. It makes sense for those not to sell that well. People
Seem
Pretty excited for the new Wolverine figure though. Plissken told me he already has two on preorder.

Supposedly this film has the biggest budget for a superhero movie ever. If it is as epic as it's Being described, I see no reason why the figures wouldn't sell well.

Well it's one now. I liked the Wolverine a lot and I know it's a mixed bag on what people thought about it. I do plan on picking up a second for the tank top look and bone claws.

Coulson is also on a tv show and in like 6 movies. He was, even before Sam Jackson showed up, the common element that tied the Marvel Universe togeather.

Wolverine is Wolverine. And most people also like Hugh as Wolverine while admitting his movies have been poorly written. (no fault of his)

Peter Dinklage as a bastardised version of a dwarf Trask with a Napolean complex who compares himself to Hitler and produces talking Vacuums?

Hey everyone check out my 9" dwarf in suit with 70s haircut and minella folders.

Trask could be cool, I think they'd need to package him with someone to make it worthwhile though. Even as a huge X-Men fan and Dinklage fan (will definitely be getting him from the 3-0 GoT line) I don't know that I'd pick him up from HT as a solo edition even if he was sub 150. Just don't know if Trask is someone I feel I need on display.

Thats why I keep saying, “IF”.
Yeah, I guess I find it much more likely that film will do a middling to good business but not get anywhere close to Avengers. To get all the figures you're talking about, the movie has to do exceptionally well. I just don't see that happening.

Yep, Tyrion Lannister makes sense, especially in context of a large GOT collection, but a little dude in a cheap suit... Don't know how many people would be super excited to have that on their shelf.

The figure sold out before the show, which is getting some horrible press. Whiplash, Iron Monger, Loki, Bane, all sold out being first time villains. Him being a dwarf is part of the appeal actually. But you seem like you want to complain for the sake of it, so go right ahead and vent my friend.

I'm interested to see where those dollars went, I hope this movie has some slick effects and not just a bunch of CGI in your face fest that drove its budget up.

DOFP will obviously make it's money back, but no way in hell will it ever crack a billion.

Why can’t it? Great cast, big budget, original director, based on arguably the most popular X-Men story, Sentinels finally.

There were a ton of Bond films before it cracked a billion. I don’t see what this movie is currently lacking to hold it back from the billion mark. I personally think it will be around 700-800 million range, but if it hit the billion mark, I wouldn’t be surprised.
