I know and that's what's cool about how it was presented. Guys who love X3, Origins and Terminators who learn the value of human life can all say "its a reference, yay!" while the rest of us can say, "retcon, cool."
You've got nerve slagging us T2 guys when you prefer Aliens over Alien! I happen to love Aliens myself and will generally prefer to watch it over the first film but we've got guys here who will rip into you for that! Aliens is T2!

So...who were the four horsemen in the flashback? I guess they die or something, and that's why this Apocalypse person possibly finds new ones in the dead First Class mutants...and apparently Wolverine for whatever reason? Who is Apocalypse? Why was he/she (looked like a female) building pyramids? Maybe I should just read the Wikipedia page.
It'll be interesting to see a villain of this scale in an X-men movie. In X1-3 it's been X-Men vs Magneto & bad mutants, X-men vs Stryker and X-men vs evil Jean. In Origins and Wolverine it's Wolverine vs bad mutants, mutant super weapons, bad humans, giant robot samurai, etc. And again, in First Class we have more human and mutant villains. Days of Future Past so far is the closest we've come to a real big bad with the Sentinels.
...but now we've got a villain that looks truly ancient or even otherworldly(?)
I read plenty of books. You know, the kind with actual words - not pages full of pretty pictures.
