I caved in an saw this movie. Granted, it was paid for by my friend, I'm glad I went. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Loved the cast, the future X-Men, McAvoy, Fassbender and of course Hugh. Quicksilver scenes stole the show. Really well done. Too bad they couldn't do this type of a movie with the previous films, minus First Class.

Still would like to see this franchise rebooted because they ****ed up so many of the characters and X-Men history, but the current direction of the franchise is a great substitute until then....

Movies are movies. Comics are comics. Singer's X-Men films are no less faithful to the material than most of the Marvel Studios films. Sure, they're a little more grounded and less vibrant, but the core character conflicts, drama and personalities are all there.

Yes very excellint price make u go boom boom in de bedroom. Potato.

The general argument (not one I am making) is that Disney/Marvel controls merchandising rights over Fox's Marvel films, and are not allowing your Hasbros' and Hot Toys' of the world to produce merchandise from those films, as a means of hurting Fox somehow. The assumption is that merchandising promotes the films, which is related to the news about Fantastic Four comics being shelved as a means of Marvel trying not to help promote Fox's forthcoming film. The issue of likeness rights is another one entirely. It would be surprising to me if all the actors from the Marvel Studios and Sony films were happy to approve use of their likeness--assuming they had the right to make this approval, instead of the studios--while the X-Men actors were much less open to it.

The really bad thing is Marvel under Disney are treating X-Men as a non-property. They have Animated TV, Animated Movies, Comics Merchandise, Movie Merchandise, Videogames and Comics. The only thing they're are truly exploiting are Comics, whereas most other Marvel are getting tat as well as most of the others.

If X-Men weren't Marvels best selling team in the comics I'm sure they drop them completely.

There's an elitist idea that they are more accurate when in reality they are as different from the comics.

@Ptutle Have you seen Children of Dune, the miniseries, yet? It's where I saw McAvoy first. Pretty cool watch. Though you should know Dune too, either the accompanying miniseries, or Lynch' version.

He was pretty damn young here.:lol Only actor I ever 'called' before he got famous. Pretty cool to see him in a role this big now.

Also, it's happened, Days of Future Past has – despite the lack of a good wolverine action sequence – surpassed X2 and taken the 3rd spot in my top 10 CB films.

Still find it hard to believe it was THIS good. So glad I was completely wrong about it upfront. From complete non-caring, with a slight bump upward inbetween in first class, DoFP completely revived my love for this franchise and I think I love it more than I ever have. I can honestly say this is back to being one of my favourites ever and that's still with ost of my criticism intact!

Man, if they can bend this just a little more toward the comic books aesthetically with Apocalypse I will go mental.

I didn't realize that, so both professors are Dune vets, pretty cool.

Not yet, I’m finishing up The Wire, then I’ll check it out.

What is it with you and Disney? You've said this now in three different threads, and haven't been able to make your case in any of them.

You like XMen better than the Avengers, Fox and Sony better than Disney/Marvel. Understood.

What exactly is it you're looking for?

You say Marvel is treating the XMen as a non property, according to who? Rob Liefeld? What exactly do you want Disney to do? Push every other property aside so you get more of your favorite characters?

What?

The fact is, whether you want to admit it or not, right now, at this moment, the Avengers are hot. The XMen? Not so much.
Even if the Xmen movie rights went back to Disney, the Avengers would STILL get TOP priority. Who gets top priority at DC besides Batman? Superman isn't even getting his own sequel. That's the way it works, you know that.

Do you think Disney/Marvel would put money and resources in to the characters that made 1.5 billion and have more movies in the pipeline, or the ones that can't crack 600 million?

Because as you know, Thor 2 is probably going to out gross DoFP. Not only Thor 2, but WS and IM3. Now, I'm not saying any of those are better movies (depends on who you ask), but in Hollywood, as I'm sure you also know, money talks and bull **** walks.

Is there not Xmen cartoons, or Xmen video games, or Xmen toys out there? Yes, there are. So what's the problem then? Do you want all new ones? Do you want stuff based on the films? Then complain to Fox about it.

You say that all they're exploiting are the comics. Well, maybe that's the only area that the Xmen are a success. You have no numbers to back up sales of anything else, so who's to say that all the other things make as much, or more than the books? You have no idea, but Marvel does, and they're the ones calling the tunes.

Do you think the monthly sales on comics mean anything? Why? Because Bleeding Cool says they sell through the roof? Compared to what? All the other titles that don't sell? Because if Marvel or DC had to depend on only the comics to survive, we wouldn't even be having this discussion. They would both be out of business. The comic sales are a drop in the bucket to Warner and Disney, and they both know it.

Yes, it is the movies, toys, video games, etc, etc, that make the bacon, so who do you think is going to be first in line for Disney/Marvel? Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Hawkeye, and Black Widow, or Wolverine and the XMen? Who would you go with?

Let me guess.

You also said that Marvel is canceling The Fantastic Four so Fox can't get their paws on any of the stories or characters (or Bleeding Cool did, a website that has the luxury of not having to back up anything it says), but that doesn't really make any sense either. Is there not already 50 YEARS of story lines and characters they can cull from? So what difference would it make for any stories that come out in the next year or two? Also, isn't the script for this already written?
Ridiculous.

It's the fans that suffer though, I know. But what fans? The fans that DON"T buy the books? Do you think FF monthlies are big sellers?

Marvel says they aren't, and they would know. I'm sure probably better than Rob Liefeld and Bleeding Cool would.

But ok, let's forget about the books. How about the movies? Well, the FF had 2 movies that were made. Were either of them successful? I guess the first one made enough to get a sequel, but the second one didn't. So no more FF movies.

Until now.

So why is Fox jumping back in that pond? So Marvel doesn't get the rights back, Fox is ready to gamble at least 200 million to get this going (and Disney will still get their cut), for what? Spite? Because if Fox can't get asses in the seats for XMen, what hope do they have for the FF?

You know what though, instead of just saying over and over, "Screw Disney", if you think there's really some truth to this whole thing, why not e-mail some LEGITIMATE news sites and ask them why they're not looking in to this story. I'm sure if there's something to it, they'll sniff it out.

Give it a shot, who knows, maybe Rob and BC are sitting on the story of the century.

No he isn’t, by the end of this weekend X-Men should be at 600 million, it has a great chance of beating both TWS and TDW.

What he is right about though, The Avengers is hot, nobody can compete with them right now.

Maybe. Maybe not. Xmen had the worst percentage drop than either Thor or Cap after opening weekend. I could see it besting Thor, but Cap may be a struggle.

It definitely won’t win domestic, but overseas its doing better than Thor and Cap.

If Thor or Cap had two consecutive fails like X3 and wolverine origins, we'd never hear from those franchises again.

I'd say it says a LOT about how STRONG the x-men franchise is that it recovered as well as it did.

The only one crying child in the corner here is wearing a spider-man outfit, because the way things go the major 3 are DisMarv, WB/DC and FOX-men. And then there's Star Wars too which is for all intents and purposes a direct competitor. Sony is doomed.

@Niltusk Wait, what, Stewart was in Dune!?

Screw Disney.

You call out Nova for putting forth a relevant opinion, which is what it is, an opinion based on what he knows in multiple threads, where it's being discussed, then you post your irrelevant opinion filled rants like some board authority? Then tell him to contact some 'legitimate' sites before giving his opinion?

Hypocrite. Go brush your teeth.
