You've never watched the original? :horror
He's Guerney Halleck

Of COURSE I've seen the original, I'd even defend it, I'm a Lynch fan and a fan of McLaughlin's Paul Artreides.

I had just completely forgot about this. Pretty cool. I recommend watching Children of Dune though. Don't bother with the Dune miniseries remake, just watch the sequel with McAvoy. That is if you like Dune as a franchise.

Yeah man, huge Dune fan, pretty sure I've seen everything, I just need to read the novel, it's been on my 'to do' list forever, just never get around to it.

I've typically enough read a bunch of dune novels, EXCEPT the original with Paul.XD

Also, I rewatching first class, it's quite astonishing how Vaughn got that Magneto origin through the way he did, it's so bloody brutal. Kevin Bacon was a great villain, as usual. Honestly, it's completely in line with FC how brutally cold Eric is in DoFP and I love how Singer kept that. And even X3 had some brutal things. This franchise is an astonishingly adult series of films for a genre with this wide a target audience. Kinda feel it's under-appreciated in the shadow of Nolan's popularity.

I mean, if you take the most brutal scenes from all x-men films together they're more shocking than anything ever done in this genre excluding R-rated franchises.

I'm kinda astounded how I never fully realised this.

Also, in DoFP Trask quotes an Oxford researcher in the beginning. I forgot but that actually IS Xavier, he's writing that IN First Class. Pretty damn cool.

Seriously this franchise is despite all the continuity **** SO well put together but has since TDK always been in the shadow of Batman and Marvel Studios.

Well no longer as far as I'm concerned.

I'm glad I never watched any of the trailers, except half watching parts of the first. This was my favorite part:

^ That scene is amazing, but the more I think about it and reflect on this movie the more frustrated I feel at not getting a complete First Class sequel first.

There wasn't enough Erik/Charles (Fass/McA) interaction in this movie for me, nor is there enough material for Erik/Mystique (which hurts the Charles/Mystique stuff to me because we don't get to see enough of the other side of the coin - the relationship she would've developed with Erik after she went with him). We didn't even get a scene where Hank and Raven actually interact, and given how important their dynamic was (in a way they acted as a younger parallel to Erik and Charles). Not to mention all the XFC mutants they simply throw away.

The XFC crew is short changed so that Singer could "fix" his X-Men universe with the time travel "fix the future" plot. As a XFC fan first and foremost, I simply can't find this movie satisfactory over all. It has its well done parts and there are things I can appreciate about it, but.....*shrugs*.

Screw Disney.

You call out Nova for putting forth a relevant opinion, which is what it is, an opinion based on what he knows in multiple threads, where it's being discussed, then you post your irrelevant opinion filled rants like some board authority? Then tell him to contact some 'legitimate' sites before giving his opinion?

Hypocrite. Go brush your teeth.

Yeah, screw Disney.

I guess can do that too.
Screw Sony. Screw Fox. They both suck balls.

See how silly that is?

Nova didn't put out a opinion, an opinion usually starts with,''I think that....". He didn't do that. He said what he did like it was a fact, with RL's twitter feed and a link to a Bleeding Cool article as some kind of evidence to prove it. That's not an opinion.

And I didn't tell him to contact legitimate news sites to give said opinion. Read it again. What I said was, that if he really believes what he was saying was the truth, why not send the tip to a real news site so they can look in to it.
I know they would do a better job of it than Bleeding Cool. BC can say whatever the hell they want, and why not? They don't have to prove anything.

If you want to throw out half-baked theories, be able to back it up.

What I said isn't any rant. I actually want to know, not just from Nova, but others that agree with him; why is Disney the bad guy in all of this?
What have they done that makes them so evil? What?

Is is because they bought Marvel, and you don't like that?

Is it because they bought Lucasfilms, and you don't like that?

Because from where I sit, both of those companies benefitted. Marvel was already making movies, but everytime they did, they had to put up ALL their charactors as collateral. They don't have to do that anymore. One flop, and it would have cost them everything. Would you rather a bank owned Marvel? Because that's exactly what would have happened.

So what is it about Disney buying Marvel that's such a craw in some people sides? Is it that they want to make money? Should they not expect a return on their investment? Wouldn't you if you ponied up 4 and half billion?

What was Lucasfilms doing before Disney? 3 prequels that mostly everyone hated, an Indiana Jones Movie that mostly everyone hated, and a cartoon that was considered good, but won't bring in the cash that films would.

Star Wars was pretty much dead at that point.

Now, they've already started on Episode VII with real sets and locations, shooting on 35mm, brought back the big 3 from the OT, and look to be using some of Ralph Mcquarrie's awesome designs. All of this so far is getting good feedback. Is that not good for the fans? Is that not enough?

What do they need to do to make you guys happy?

What?

Also, just so you know that I don't play favorites to any one studio, it might please the XMen fans to know that as of today, DoFP grossed 609 million. So I was wrong about it not cracking 600 mill. That'll teach me to look at numbers before the weekend's over.

But do know my point wasn't about How much DoFP made, it was that it's not outgrossing any of Disney's other films, so there's no reason why they would have problems with Fox owning the rights.

Now, if it was outgrossing Avengers, then I'm sure D/M would be crying in their beers. Hard.

I didn't have that, but I wonder if I'll have that experience with batman vs superman, being a man of steel fan first and foremost.

I think FC resolved quite a lot of its plot, knowing where the characters are going to end up. I feel Mystique and Magneto were a little short on character developing scenes in DoFP and together with future wolverine needing an action scene, an extended cut of DoFP with about 20 mins extra footage could make it about the level of the best cb film ever made thus far for me.

Magneto never felt as dangerous or sadistic as he did in FC. Pulling tooth fillings out or pushing a coin through a guy's head is far more disturbing to me that cgi stadium lifting.

I felt outright wanting to shoot his former lover dead at gunpoint, without any sign of remorse the most disturbing thing he's ever done in the entire franchise.

The way he drags her over that pavement, he became a ****ing terminator to me man. ****ing creeped me out beyond anything he did in FC.

All true. :lol

I didn't catch that Xavier passage in either viewing, good eye, brotha :rock

@Thanks Nil!

@Chew Yeeees. I kinda suspect gambit will be one of them and the way they bring him in, but that just a guess, not what I'd specifically want.

Again, I REALLY recommended listening to the Empire podcast interview with Kinberg, the writer. DoFP was very exceptionally well thought out down to many details off screen. And he explains why things ended up the way they did and their writing in that is very solid imo.

Als @Josette Kinberg said Apocalypse will essentially be the FC sequel and is very explicitely focussed on the new FC characters and exploring their relations. So wouldn't be too bummed out yet...:)

Does anyone else know or think that Brian Singers legal troubles will delay the next X-men movie?

What legal troubles?

The victim who was wronged 16 years ago and his lawyers have now simply vanished.

Hmmm, I wonder if money had anything to do with that?

I guess the money was good enough to buy his integrity, you know, how he was going to stand up and protect all future children from harm in Hollywood.

Screw that idea I guess, here's your money, sign here, now take your integrity and beat it.
