Best Marvel movie....period. I'm in love with this movie. Everything about it was just ____ing cool. It oozed cool. And class.

It had action, and character development! HOLY ____ FOX...they did it!

stay tuned for, x-men: business class

:lol

Definitely agree with my fellow freaks. Fassbender, McAvoy, Lawrence, Kevin Bacon all stole the show. Excellent Marvel movie. I loved the little cameos too. :wink1:

And don't forget
The arsehole CIA guy.....William Stryker Sr. :horror He's the one at the war table saying they have to kill the mutants.

Also, if you're quick and paying attention, you'll see cameos of Storm and Cyclops when Xavier puts Cerebro on for the first time.

Saw this film at midnight... loved it. So awesome. I don't have one complaint about the directing, story or acting. Some iffy character choices but at the end of the day it doesn't take away from the film.

Just got home from watching this and I have to say hands down the best x-men movie to date. I loved it, fkn' brilliant.
My sister came along and she hasn't seen any of the other X movies, she also agreed it was awesome...

No, just 2D.

This movie was everything I was hoping it would be - great story, fantastic acting from almost everyone), the action was fun, the humor was funny, but when it was intense, it was intense.

Fassbender was nothing short of amazing. It's a star making turn. If this becomes a trilogy, you can bet he'll be this one's "Wolverine".

McAvoy was also great as Xavier. Lawrence was my favorite of the girls. She played a very different Mystique, but I love her growing strength throughout the movie - you could clearly see how she becomes the confident Mystique in the future, and it made perfect sense for me to have her start out this way.

January Jones was the weak link for me - she wasn't awful, but next to all of the others, she stood out like a sore thumb, IMO. I thought her performance was one note.

I believe there was an interview where one of the actors stated this was a "love story" ;) between Xavier and Magneto, and I could see it. Their relationship drove the movie to the height it reached. My heart broke for both of them at the end.

I can agree with most of what's been said. The movie was a breath of fresh air to an ailing franchise. The production design was beautiful and everyone was perfectly cast. It's like they took my favorite things: Marvel comics, retro Bond, and a few in-jokes, threw them in a pot and the result was pure unadulterated win.

I do have a few nit-picks though:
I knew going in they were going to blatantly ignore Wolverine and X3. Fine. But they totally went against a few established details in X1. Notably Erik and Charles' friendship. Don't get me wrong: McAvoy and Fassbender had great chemistry and played their parts perfectly. However, in the comics and earlier films, you get the strong impression that Erik and Charles had been friends for years before slowly going their separate ways.

But in First Class they literally know each other for like three weeks before Mags decides to become a full-on supervillian by the end of the film. I understand they wanted to make this a standalone prequel, but the entire ending was too rushed and contrived. Magneto becomes evil. Check. Charles is crippled. Check. I'm surprised Erik didn't summon an electric razor and start shaving Charles on the beach, just to have all the bases covered.

I would have saved those two major elements for a sequel, though it does make for an emotionally-satisfying ending if nothing else.

That being said,

If they really wanted to reboot as much as they did, they might as well have gone with a stronger roster. I understand wanting to give new mutants the time to shine, but they could have used an older Iceman (could be Bobby from the film's uncle) or the real Angel to give Beast some company, especially if X3 doesn't exist any more.

Otherwise, it is my favorite of the series and I can't wait to see where they go from here. Consider the Hot Toys bought.

Couldn't agree more about Lawrence. Great, GREAT job on her behalf. I'm really looking forward to seeing more of her in the future. She's got a bright future. (She's already been nominated for an Academy Award, so that last statement probably goes without saying. :lol)

And Jones did an exceptional job as well.

Much like McAvoy did for Professor X, Jennifer Lawrence brought some life into Raven/Mystique. While Romijn wasn't bad, this version had me much more invested into her character. To me it was just as much her movie as it was Charles' and Erik's. Very eager to see what may come next.

If it's true that the writer's want Cable in the sequel, then omg

Best X-Men movie to date IMO and more enjoyable than Thor. Some great casting on Magneto, Prof X and Mystique. The guy playing Beast also turned in a good performance.

With everything to like in this movie including some nice cameos it was Magneto who stole the show. The character finally rocked in this movie.

8.5/10

I was waiting for people to call me out on the "best Marvel movie" statement of mine, but I see that I'm not alone!!! :rock Glad you both felt the same way I did. :rock

Fox knocked it out of the park. And I'll be the first to admit that I didn't think they could do it, but I was DEFINITELY wrong. :lecture

I agree with the people saying best Marvel movie made. I enjoyed it more than Iron Man, Thor and X2. (Which I consider the great Marvel movies from the past)

I never come into any of these general convo threads here, but I saw the midnight showing last night and it blew me away. It makes every other superhero movie to this point look like an episode of Sesame Street, and might possibly be the best film ever made. I think I'm going to see it again tonight.

Either way: :rotfl :rotfl :rotfl

One of the critics said that it is better than The Dark Knight...I want to say it was Rolling Stone but I can't be sure...that is quite a build up.

I could definitely see someone arguing that. It was good. (And that's an understatement.) I'm still a big fan of TDK, so I don't know if I could say this was better, BUT (and that's a big BUT,) this will hold the test of time years down the road, and there's not too many comic book adaptations that I can say that for.

I will stand by my words and say that this was the best Marvel movie to date, and I think that says a lot.

(Not that I'm a Siskel or Ebert, but you know what I mean. :lol)
