I wouldn't be posting that if I were you.

You do know that I work for Fox don't you?

And this is why.

Someone actually told me to come back into this thread and read this exchange. I'm still chuckling. I guess I wasn't done yet.

The movie was better without him. Love Hugh, but i'm sick of Wolverine The Movie: Featuring The X-Men.

Magneto was a far more interesting character. I felt more for him in those 2 hours, then I did for Wolverine in all three movies. :dunno

It's where I keep all my things. Get a lot of compliments on this. Plus it's not a man purse. It's called a satchel. Indiana Jones wears one.

You guys probaly get this alot but are they really sideshow freaks here ?

Just got back from seeing this tonight and I have to say it was a really well done movie. As far as X-Men movies go, it is right up there with X2 as my favorite. Story-wise this is the best X-men movie hands down. Casting was really good. I think some people didn't care for Kevin Bacon's or January Jones' performances but I thought they were great. Bacon played a good villain that you love to hate and January nailed the cool detached demeanor that is Emma Frost.

I didn't care for the character of Angel as I stopped reading the books before she was introduced, but come on she has such a lame power flying with acid puke balls? Could have done without her. No way she would have been able to take on Banshee or Havok one-on-one let alone at the same time. I was hoping Havok would plasma blast her into dust.

Azazel was an intriguing character, but another one I am unfamiliar with. I have heard that he is Nightcrawler's father? A little too Vader/Luke for my tastes if true.

Al in all I really liked this and would be interested in seeing a sequel if it is in the works. My rating 9/10.

Might be seeing this tomorrow, really hope I am.

X-men has always been my favorite Marvel group. Never read the comics, but watched the cartoons when I was little.
So excited. :panic:

I also saw this today. Bacon's performance was the biggest pleasant surprise to me. Fassbender was the scene stealer, and is a much better incarnation of Magneto as I knew him from the comics than was McKellen. Biggest drawback was January Jones. She only looked the part.

Easily the 2nd best X-movie after X2. Great movie.

BTW, if you go to Wal-Mart, several DVDs have free coupons to see this one. I actually bought the X2 Blu Ray for $15 and got a free movie coupon.

Finally got to see this today, and I loved it. At least tied with X2 for best in the series, although the acting and character development might put it into first place for me upon repeat viewings. Fassbender made me root for Magneto, who (along with Mystique) I now view quite differently and more sympathetically. I loved the characters, the time period, production design, etc. My favorite movie of the summer so far, and one I'd happily see again in the theater. I hadn't really heard/read much about it going in, so my expectations weren't that high and I was really pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it--I hope enough people pay to see it that they make a sequel.

From my perspective, X2 wins as being closer in spirit to the X-Men comics that I knew and enjoyed as a kid, and a lot of that is probably the characters and their interactions with one another. X2 had Wolverine, Nightcrawler, Storm, Rogue, Cyclops, Jean Gray, even Colossus in a cameo--most of the Claremont/Byrne crew.

This movie was all over the place, with characters that didn't make a lot of sense together if you take the comic as the starting point--Beast, Havok, Mystique, Banshee, obscure Marauder Riptide, the Hellfire Club, and a few mutants I never even heard of outside of the film (Azazel, Darwin, "Angel").

So, as far as being a well made film, this may be the best of the series. I think the Magneto portrayal had more depth and pathos than any other character in the franchise so far. But X2 is still my favorite. That scene with Wolverine attacking the soldiers during the mansion assault might be my favorite scene from a comic book movie.

I have never read any of the comics, so it sounds like that might have made the movie more enjoyable for me. It certainly had a few more scenes of genuine emotion and drama than I expected, without going overboard or losing the sense of action and fun. Fassbender made me believe in and care about an X-Men character more than any previous actor in the films.

I really don't know anything about the history of these characters from the comics, and this story filled in some blanks in a way that will make the original films better when I revisit them. After the last two lackluster X-Men films, this really redeemed the franchise and brings it back to the quality we enjoyed with the first two and leaves me anticipating the next one.

Agreed 100%. I saw X3 coming on cable the other day, and the first couple scenes were so badly paced and directed that I had to turn it off. Wolverine: Origins isn't much better IMO.
