I hated X3 for making storm the leader and making wolverine into some whinny girl. Cyclops should have been the leader throughout, they could've gotten another cyclop's. Then they also kill off xavier aswell which was stupid.

There weren't many redeeming qualities to X3 IMO. Special effects were bad, story was forgettable (I don't even remember much about what was going on), characters were one-dimensional and cheesy, direction and pacing were bad. I remember sort of liking Juggernaut, but that's about it.

Magneto's (non)response to Prof. X's death particularly stuck out to me as ridiculous, considering their supposed history in the storyline. And Cyclops was treated as even more useless and unimportant than he was in the previous 2 films (which is saying something). That one just left a bad taste in my mouth. Like I posted earlier, I've actually tried to sit down and watch it again, but I haven't been able to sit through the whole thing more than once (when I saw it in the theater). Such a horrible drop-off from the excellence of X2.

I'm interested in the "excellence" of X2, beyond the awesomeness of Wolverine that is. Please elaborate.

Great action, great comic-type story, good conflict and interaction between the characters, good pacing, good cinematography and direction as far as these things go, good acting for the most part, good special effects, great bad guy, fun, entertaining, felt like X-Men. Don't know what else you are looking for :huh

I was looking for someone, other then Wolverine, to live up to their comic book counterpart. Which I got for the first time in First Class.

All the X-Movies have taken lots of liberties with the extent to which characters reflect their comic incarnations, though. Apart from Magneto, I can't think of anyone from First Class that really channeled their comic character very well. Beast was probably closest, but even that wasn't very close (he was too mousy, didn't come across as witty and smart enough with his language, and didn't really move the way that I always imagined he would). Prof. X, Sebastian Shaw, White Queen, Banshee, and Havok were hardly recognizable to me. Stewart's Prof. X, Jean Gray, and Jackman's Wolverine were pretty damn close to their comic incarnations in X2 IMO, if that's your criteria for enjoying the films. I think Storm and Nightcrawler also had the potential to grow into their comic counterparts if the series had taken the right track.

I agree with you about Nightcrawler, but Strom was another matter.

She never used her powers to the fullest, which, most of the characters didn't in any of the previous film. One of my biggest complaints about the X-Men was that they were all powered down. Magneto needs a helicopter to fly around? Come on.

X3 would've been tons better if Cyclops didn't die and if he had a big role in the final battle and was the one to kill Jean at the end.

Also would've been a lot better if Rogue didn't take the cure and if she fought as well.

didn't they make that movie in a rush with conflicting schedules...didn't cyclops get killed off because he had to go and be superman's kids step-dad.

Well, you know, a 25-35 white male with brown hair would have been really difficult to find to replace James Marsden.

Based on how the story was writen, how would Cyclops stop Jean? How could he even get close to her?

Rouge took the cure because she was a useless character.

I loved Rogue. She's my second favorite of the movie characters after Magneto.

Rogue took the cure because X3 butchered the characters. She was just one of the many victims.

Nothing that happened in X3 really happened in my opinion, so it doesn't matter what the ostensible motivations were :lol

I didn't care much for the movie incarnation of Rogue, though. To me, the ideal Rogue is her mid-80s incarnation.

James marden wanted to have his cake and eat it to.

Yeah, I wasn't crazy about rogue. I loved wolverine in the first movie. And I loved nightcrawler in the second.

Saw this today and loved it. The Wolverine part was brilliant.
Loved Azazel, he was extremely badass.

The whole movie was great, definitely my new favorite Marvel movie.

Have you ever read an X-Men comic? Bryan Singer butchered that character in his first film.

I know much of how Rogue is in the comics and I also watched the animated series, so I know he went a different route with her in the films.

I liked his version of her though. Was she like the comic character? No, but I think he would have gotten her more to that point if he'd stayed on board X-Men. She was very young in the first movie and had plenty of room to develop and grow in sequels. That's one of the reasons I liked her. But I was near her age in the first movie and she was sort of my "gateway" character into the franchise. Also, I liked the Wolverine and Rogue angle, because their relationship, along with Xavier and Magneto's, were the only character connections in the film I enjoyed. I didn't feel much for Storm, Jean or Cyclops as I did those four. That also helped me like Rogue more.

But with X3 came the butchering of all of the movie characters, so any potential went to waste.

Just saw this for the first time last night. Thought it was pretty good, and had a MUCH different "feel" to it compared to the other XMEN films. Overall I liked it :D

Well, I unfortunately, I hated everything that you liked so the first film was huge let down for me.
