I'm sure Microsoft is gathering feedback and keeping in touch with customer comments. They had to do a complete 180 on their policies and implementing all the changes that they did and still trying to make launch was a huge time-crunch. Then again, they were to blame for a poor proposal in the first place.
They do need to refine the UI. Look at 360 Live for the simplicity. The UI is tailored to using the Kinect, but knowing a lot of gamers might completely avoid using it they do need to work on making the UI more user-friendly to those NOT using the Kinect.
A "Kinect-less" X-Box One might be the hot seller for next year's Christmas. It just depends on how long Microsoft wants to hold onto the Kinect as "part" of the X-Box One.
