I was on my fourth xbox 360. First was RROD, then they replaced it with a refurb which had the disc drive eventually go on it. Then I bought an arcade and the disc drive started to go on it so I sold it to my buddy and bought the GOW3 system. Aside from it freezing on BF3 and Arkham Origins (not the systems fault) it played perfectly.

My buddy was on his 3rd PS3. I think the first two were hard drive failures.

The figure for the 360 actually seems about right. :lol

:lol

I forgot which of the behind the scenes MS/360 books admitted to the 30% failure rate, it was written by some disgruntled ex MS engineer. :lol

PS3 supposedly remained under 6%.

Either way, I'm hoping for some black friday midnight luck at gamespot for an X1.

Manager today said I have a good chance, then she asked what I was doing later. :lol

Told her hopefully eating dinner with my wife and kid. :lol

Bro, if you wanted to guarantee yourself an Xbox One on Black Friday, you should have been eating a manager.

I picked up an Xbox One today and I'm relieved to say it works fine. I went to a store and they said they were out of stock, but one of the staff checked to see if they had any left due to pre-order cancellations, and luckily enough, they had one. And it was a Day One edition, which is cool, I guess.

I must admit, I was expecting to get a faulty one for some reason, even though my luck with consoles has been pretty good. Overall, I'm very happy with it. The load/install times can be a bit of a pain, but I can live with it. I've only played BF4 and FIFA 14 so far, and they both look incredible. I've played quite a bit of FIFA 14 on the 360, and it's definitely different and better. Looking forward to picking up some more games.

I just connected up my Xbox. All good & really enjoying it

One thing that is weird is that none of my other hdmi cables will work with it? Where I wanted it to go I can't put it there right now because the one that came with the Xbox isn't long enough. Anyone else had this problem?

I wish the Xbox 1 would have at least came with a manual on the voice commands on the kinect. I had to look around youtube to see what others have found and also the hand gestures. Other than that, I think its really cool. I thought I was just going to use it show off to friends and family from time to time but end up using it during games.

"Xbox, turn on!" got my friends going crazy!

Yeah i had the same but I thought it was my cable. I had to mod my last cable to get optical on my last machine so I just thought it was that. strange

Iv not used hand gestures yet. How does that work ? do you need to install anything ?

There's nothing to install. Simply lift your hand up in front of you and a hand icon will appear, you can then move your hand forward to select something or push even further to bring up options. To go between screens you can make a motion like you're grabbing something and then you can drag it over. If you want to go back to an active app on the home screen you can grab with both hands and then spread them apart, do the opposite to go back.

Geezus does it work well ?

trying to grab things is a bit jumpy, and it might not necessarily read your hand from a position that is comfortable (like read your hand movements based off your body position in a comfortable way).
It's faster to just use the voice commands since you can do things that aren't on the current screen that way.

oh cool.

Has anyone had problems connecting to stat/cable box ?

Mine is not picking up the signal. Like previous stated, it didnt like my other hdmi cable and am wondering if it might need a microsoft hdmi lead ??

Or use a controller that works every time. I dont fault MS for trying to do something innovative with the Kinect, but it still seems like we're all paying to beta test their near gear. It feels more like a proof of concept device than a solid piece of tech. As an interface device for the One, it functions (mostly) but isnt as fast or precise as the controller which makes me wonder why id ever use it for that. They need to reveal that rumored vr headset asap.
