It helps that the Mark XLII is my favorite IM armor and that I have very little faith in Sideshow's XLII. I'll probably be saving up my lunch money for XM's Mark VII as well.

I hope you won't be disappointed then. Sure, SSC has failed on recent IM pieces, but that doesn't mean that the XM XLII won't fail as well. I'm not impressed by the photos I've seen. The colors look too much like Hot Toys.

Well Hot Toys is the best in any scale for Iron Man so I don't see how that is a bad thing. :lol

I'm with epitaph, SSC's IM line has been sub par product after lousy product. When they can't get their $2,000 Iron Man product right there's no hope for the rest of them.

Yea, it's the colors, though, that I am not that big of a fan of. They don't have a metallic look. Just more of a plastic look. I see something very similar with the XM Mark VII.

Sorry, btw, I think I misread the above. I was mainly talking about the Mark VII. :)

agreed...SSC mark 42 looks awful...this one is a smidge better and I like the Gwyneth portrait...still not ordering though:lol

Sad but so true. Put both next to each other and take good quality foto. You will notice the difference, heck. Even HT provide you with the arc reactor details :gah:

Yeah, I saw that comparison pic posted in the LSF thread :lol

I'll either display this with Pepper or the full helmet, both of which look ok from the latest pics.

Exactlly, no more excuses for lighting factor, bla bla bla, it's apple to apple comparison when they are next to each other.

STGCC pics from Facebook from Shioktoys Collectible's. Is it just me, or does the portrait look amazing here?

This statue has worked its way into my preorders. This is the best Robert Downey likeness on a 1/4 sculpt I have seen. A very, very nice statue!. I think I will cancel the SS one (maybe) and just hold on to the Iron Patriot order.

Agreed, I'm in as well and initially bagged on the portrait pretty hard. The pic of the portrait they have on the website is horrible lol, they should replace it immediately as the newer ones really show off the quality of the sculpt and paint app used.

Maybe we will get the one that look like the website when it ships rather than the proto... Oh wait...

Well it's sold out anyways, whatever they put on their site seems to be good enough hehe. I am going to display the Pepper head, just hoping it looks great in the final product.

:rotfl

Pepper will get some display time for sure :hi5: as will Tony, who I agree is the best Stark done in this scale. The EX Stark portrait I got with my Hulkbuster has never seen the light of day.

I'm right there with you on this loricstone....this one has made it's way to my pre-order list as well.

It's funny...I did not like the last Iron Man movie (even though Iron Man is one of my favorite characters). And I certainly did not like what I referred to as the "Butterscotch" armor. But over time, this damn armor has grown on me. I will likely pick up this one, as well as the SS's version that goes with their Iron Patriot offering.

I also agree with the assertion that the portrait looks much, much, better than the initial sculpt that was presented.

Here's a couple more pics of the RDJ portrait from itakon.it. Also, check out how great the arc reactor looks in that second pic.
