I think MaulFan could just put a gray filter mask over it to cancel out the colors?

That's really not easy, because a true base sculpt is all the same shades for shadows midtones and highlights, where a b&w version of a painted item will have varying shades so the look isn't too good, I tried it once trying to plan out a custom paint job and it didn't work out well.

I got Luke last night, and I am pretty pleased with the figure, but the paint application on mine doesn't look as nice as some of the pictures posted around here. The eyes seem to be a little too straight on, and have a bit of a lifeless stare. They are a little more hazel than I remember Mark Hamill's eyes being as well. My only real nitpick though, is that the masking when painting the hair must not have been on very well, as some of the strands of hair on the right side of his head are flesh colored. I think the sculpt looks really nice, especially from a 3/4 perspective, but the paint job on this one wasn't my favorite of the bunch.

Can't wait for Plo though. (did that just rhyme?)

Hmmm, Michael mentioned the bad hair work as well. But mine's actually really clean. Much better than some other figures with hair in front of their foreheads.

Seriously, if you can't see stark differences something is very off here. But I guess its all a matter of opinion (sigh)... why won't everyone just agree with me :monkey2

Coco, sadly im being honest and not even trying to be an ass.

How much is the hasbro luke, like $20?

Do you guys honestly see a $50 difference between the two?

In articulation alone, I see a $50 difference.

Okay... just to play devil's advocate... so the head on Hasbro looks like an 80's football jock (say what you will about likenesses, but c'mon really you can't see a difference), his jacket is giant, with nowhere near the detail (notice the bar on this left breast and piping on the arms) and I would wager feels much cheaper. His hands look like he's allergic to and got stung by a bee. The holster is plastic and very looks bad, the pants aren't as detailed (no striped and stitching on side details looks lower quality) the boots are giant. Not to mention (as Coco said) the basebody.

Maybe its the rose colored glasses, but I would never allow the Hasbro near my collection. Yet I welcome in this new Luke.

It's more like Sideshow is becoming the new Hasbro if they keep up this sort of quality.

i mean as far as 12" figures go
