I was kind of pizzzed about the Netflix thing for a bit too.
I cancelled my Blu subscription with them once I got my 120 hz tv. Using the motion flow deal I didn't see the point in renting Blu from them for a bunch of comedies and dramas that look TERRIFIC upscaled anyways. The WB thing did irk me a bit but that's not really their fault right?
I'm not going to comment on you're blu statement
But the reason for the embargo is their fault - it's a decision they made. I understand why, but I still think it's a mistake. They had Blockbuster on the ropes, but now...not as much.
Netflix wants more streaming content. Let's face it, while it's a cool idea, they don't have a hell of a lot of good stuff yet. WB came along and said "sure, you can have a lot more of our movies (which is quite considerable) for streaming, but you have to agree not to rent any new releases by mail til 28 days after the store release." Netflix went for it because they felt most of their customer base wouldn't mind, and they really, really want that streaming content.
The mistake they made, I think, is that much of their customer base DOES mind. I want new releases when they're, well, new. I could tolerate the last one - the Box - because it wasn't a movie I was looking forward to, but Sherlock Holmes is one I really have been waiting to see.
Still, I like Netflix. Their customer service tends to be top notch, and I think they are on the right path with streaming content, although I won't care with movies until it's all 1080p or better with lossless audio. I don't like Blockbuster, largely due to their old ways around trying to censor films they didn't approve of.
Whether I switch or not will depend on how much of a pain in my backside it becomes. I haven't pulled the trigger...yet.
