I'm guessing this will be chock full of metaphors, symbolism and religious imagery, all trying to comment on the deeper meaning of mankind...but the surface level stuff like the actual story and pacing will be a mess.

People will obviously look for stuff that isn’t there.

It reminds me of that South Park episode where butters gets blamed for writing a book “the poop that took a pee” and it’s horrible but people buy it cause they are finding things in the story that isn’t there and they think it’s a metaphor for some deeper meaning.
Yea that’s pretty much what happened with Snyder

Did anyone expect a film with Charlie hunnam and Ed skrein as another English bad guy to be good?

Look, Snyder fans have been through this before with BvS. Critics roasted BvS and I adore that film.

BvS is a film that took me by surprise hard, when I saw it in the theater. I knew it was a film by an auteur. But it took a while for the film to marinate in my unconscious. My mind sort of opened to it the more I watched it and noticed different things.

Anyway, I'm seeing Rebel Moon in the theater tomorrow. Even now without having yet having seen it, I have to wonder if it should have simply been released in its director's cut form. Snyder clearly prefers the long form to tell his stories. I doubt that there's really anything to be gained from trying to appease normies. I mean, it allows kids to be able to watch it. So there's that. But maybe it's a fool's errand for him to try to make films for the GA.

BvS was one of the biggest steaming piles of dog **** I’ve ever watched in cinema.

I mean, the overwhelming majority of people do not like his stuff so it's no surprise to me this is getting blasted. Just mentioning his name will trigger an insult or two from a lot folks.

If you didn't care for most (or all) of his previous films, you're probably not gonna like this either. But he's got a modest size fan base that do like them. And I believe that bothers some people more than his actual films.

To some, if you mention Synder, they immediately think "those annoying Synder Bros". I wouldn't call myself a Snyder Bros but I am certainly and unashamedly a fan of his work. The Synder Bros are just pationate about being a part of a fandom they think the world wants to see vaporized.

I don't have a problem with his writing. I really enjoy his stuff. And he's obviously very talented in the visuals department but I've seen more than a few people actually say his films are hidiouus to look at too. Can't please everyone. But yeah, the internet, critics, Youtubers, most of the audience... is going to take their jab at Rebel Moon.

It's all good. As a fan, I'm just happy to get some more content from the guy. It's James Gunn who I don't particularly care for. Which is funny because the majority of folks (at least from what I can tell) hold him in high regard because of GOTG.

I'd probably rather set myself on fire than subject myself to another episode of Peacemaker lol

One man's trash is a other man's treasure. 🤷

The thing is though Batman v Superman wasn’t his fault entirely. He wasn’t the right guy to headline a universe. And JL movie was a mess and WB are largely to blame . The thing I have an issue with was him baiting his toxic fans with “hints” that the universe wasn’t done and that he would continue when it was made clear the majority of fans didn’t like his movies.

Then the toxicity from his fans was out of this world. It’s sad how they are attacking the new Superman film.

But again there are bad people on both sides of this argument. It’s not as bad as it use to be since he confirmed to be moving to other things. But I think when the fanbase started criticizing the Batman and spamming “restorethesnyderverse” on every advertisement for the movie I had an issue with. Cause it’s like you enjoy Batman then you would be optimistic about whatever the character does not be shackled to who is directing him.
The asm franchise sucked and it ended. But it had fans and some didn’t want spidey in the mcu. Those fans weren’t toxic at all.

It’s not everyone lol. Again there are bad people on both sides. Twitter is just a cesspool of fighting.

24% on rotten tomato. This guy only made one good movie: Watchmen

Anyone who takes "Superman" so seriously that they become toxic has much bigger problems.
Anyone who takes any media seriously they become toxic is weird. I’m talking all of them lol. At the end of the day it’s for entertainment. I know there can be heated debates but death threats, bullying, harassment over something fictional is silly.

I say that with a sonic pic as my avatar

Love him or hate ZS ain’t going nowhere because he is one of the most culturally connected, discussed, meme’d, searched, sought after and interviewed directors on the planet his name and persona brings a-lot of money and attention towards the corporations he interacts with.

I’m not saying that’s good or bad thing i’m just ssying that this is a thing!

He knows being hated brings him equal success.

Part of his charm is obviously his charisma but also a large fan base that is always looking for him to hit it big and they will never give up waiting for that to happen.

His supporters know a great movie is not IF but WHEN.

Keep hating him he just keeps getting stronger the man is resilient. :panic:

Sound familiar with someone in politics lol

:chase

I think when a lot of people that subscribe to Netflix who have no particular issue with Zack Snyder's filmmaking style, i.e., no dog in the fight, actually watch this movie they will legit be scratching their heads at a 23% RT score. This is in no way a "bad" film. At a minimum it is very good. And for those that enjoy a story of this kind (regardless of the director) it's excellent (meaning it will be experienced as such). Haters will of course bash at every opportunity. But for anyone that is relatively objective this film if directed by almost anyone else would be certified fresh.

Studios can and do “buy” reviews and can completely game the system, and RT has been outed for that recently:
