Yeah has a bit of "your doll fell over."

And not sure the Vader body has that ab bend ability much because it's the old voice chip HT body where its limited because it's where the speaker/electrics went.

I’m going to grab Luke and do a little posing. I’ll snap some pics. I actually started a tik tok channel so I’ll try a quick video and see how it looks. Then I’ll put him on the stand.

It's almost like it's hard to use the exposed Anakin head for anything but a (non screen accurate obviously) standing pose.

It's maybe because in the movie you only really see the Humpty Dumpty head in close up, but as a 1/6 laying down display you obviously have to see the whole Vader body and it sort of draws your eyes away from the little pinkish head, which is also inevitably further away from you and partly hidden because of the laying down angle.

The standing display seems to foreground the Anakin head much better - not partly hidden by the laying down angle for starters - and the body rather than being kind of limp as he's laying there can show his power even though he doesn't have the iconic helmet (which I assume most people would have him holding.)

I also think the lightning helmet is tricky too because the clear purple looks slightly odd on the regular (opaque) Vader body - in the movie the see-through/x-ray visual covers his chest and arms as well, which would have made for a cool display but hard for HT to pull off.

Improvise a little more and have him leaning to one side, one elbow on the steps, and see if you can’t get him to sit forward more. Have look on one knee, pulling him forward with one arm around his shoulders….?

Vader with Luke. A little better, but they need a lot of space like a garage shelf or modu case. Still looks like a doll fell down.
I stuck him with the shore troopers for now until I get more display room so he doesn’t get too dusty.

It's the most accurate Vader helmet we ever got, I feel it's kind of a waste to display the Shaw head
Well, there's only 1 figure with a Shaw head, and the head is phenomenal (even better than the HT 1/4 scale, as I have both). And it is one of the most pivotal and iconic scenes in Star Wars and Cinema. Seeing Vader's Face under the mask for the 1st time.

Whether it's the most accurate or not, there are a plethora of HT Vader's to display with the helmet on. If I had the ESB version, I would've thrown the helmet onto that figure as many have.

I personally display my figures in their fully suited up looks, so I also don’t care for the Shaw sculpt, despite how iconic and classic it is. Especially when you can’t even display this one in an accurate fashion. It just looks weird to me seeing him upright without his mask. If that were the case, he’d be dying, struggling to breathe lol

I'm using this figure to essentially have 2 figures for one. I have a bunch of custom parts laying around to cobble a second Vader body, so I'm whipping up a custom body to mount the Shaw head on as that doesn't need to be anything special, it's about the portrait, and then I'm using the MMS700 figure for helmeted Vader.

I never got the need to dsplay a figure as accurately as possible, for instance because you don't see him stood up without the mask. I think Jedah did a pose of him looking at the mask that looked badass.

I agree. The whole point of the flexibility of a figure vs say a statue is to be able to do whatever you want whether that's recreating movie scenes or doing your own thing. It's part of the fun of poseability that comes with a figure.

I tend to do poses or displays that are hybrids of classic moments anyway so even if its not specifically a recreation of a particular scene, it captures all the best vibes of the character.

And if I remember correctly Jedah's pose was a recreation of the Sideshow Mythos Vader pose where Shaw is looking down at the helmet in his hand.

Frankly I'm just glad there is still interest in producing and displaying the Shaw head at all - you'd almost think that by now Hayden would be the sole visual for an unmasked Vader for figures, with both the ghost replacement scene in ROTJ and the OWK reveal helmet.

Who knows if Lucas had kept LFL maybe for the 40th ROTJ anniv last year we'd finally have gotten a Hayden redo of the "go my son" scene. 😲 :lol

That whole Hayden ghost thing was one of many stupid decisions Lucas made when he did those horrible “Special Editions”, and made absolutely no sense. Obi-Wan and Yoda both looked the way they did when they died, but somehow Vader/Annakin looked like some young punk who couldn’t act his way out of a wet paper bag…? Someone should have smacked Lucas about the head and shoulders with a golf club for the many idiotic decisions he made when he “added” stuff to the original movies.

The idea as some have expressed it on the web, is that Hayden is the representation of Annakin before he turned to the dark side. And since he is redeemed when he dies, that look is more suitable than Shaw.
P.S. I still like Shaw better.

Yeah, I’ve seen that theory… still doesn’t wash with me. Even if it came straight from Lucas himself.

So umm... what if Anakin had turned to the dark side as a kid in TPM?

Hayden Anakin died when the Dark Side and Vader took him over. Sabastian Anakin was redeemed as the older man and died a Jedi. Shaw never should have been taken out of Jedi. Just my thoughts...., but what do I know? I'm just some old dude.
I believe Lucas wanted to use this as a connection from the OT to the PT (after the fact). This was his way of doing that....., and he didn't need to.
