That pose looks fantastic!

Um so my guy arrived this afternoon woo! He's beautiful, a massive step up from the 1/6 scale equivalents somehow, really not sure what it is precisely.

Any tips for the battery compartments on the forearms and calfs? The screws come out readily enough but they don't take the plastic covers with them and the little plastic tool included is proving too fat to be of much use.

I'm going to attempt a comparison shot or two once I've gotten comfortable posing him, though thus far the sections that feel delicate have proven that they really aren't.

I've always said it looks like a scale movie prop rather than a scale movie toy, which even the really detailed sixth scales still do to me..

In this case I think I agree, though given I've got a couple of huge obitsus and a giant artists doll bigger isn't always better!

If I had to find one nitpick - I think the numerous airbrakes (or whatever they're called) that lift up could do with more details on the underside of the panels. The light up features are a gorgeous addition and I realise they don't open up all that much so you can't really see their undersides, but the faceplate and previous airbrakes have spoilt me!

Would love to see the comparison pics!

Still in awe of this figure the next day - though I still need to pick up some replacement LR44s to check his chest electronics are working (the included batteries had long since exploded and the LR44s were the one size I was out of, I'm very grateful they were in that little tray rather than in the figure!)

Would love to see the comparison pics!

Thanks! As soon as I've worked everything out you'll get a couple, I was thinking 1/6 Tony, 1/12 Tony.

...Then purely for the amusement factor of MCU Stark always being the short one, a usual suspects style line-up with a 50cm Obitsu, and a giant artists doll (though quick question wrt that, the artists doll is *ahem* anatomically correct, it's akin to a Renaissance statue in that area, is that OK by forum rules? I think I've seen a couple of similar figures around here, and it definitely isn't one of those porn figures, but I have yet to work out if I'm keeping this guy long-term let alone where to get clothes for it!)

I love this guy.

Hope these images are 1) not too big, and 2) ok by forum rules (that final photo can go if it's not ok - but he's by far the most action figure-esque 1/3 scale thing I own, (and I've yet to find clothes for him))

Got to admit, whilst I adore all of the protection this figure's box provides this is the first Hot Toys I've owned that I feel may be a tad, dare I say it - overpackaged!

Tony - immediately taking advantage of his newfound status as a giant... 1/6 Tony is trying to appease him with a donut to no avail...

28330492662_c9c345fdaa_c.jpg

All of the other Tony's are now rather ...upset with 1/4 scale Tony

28435347715_e855a7c4ba_c.jpg

Tony feeling rather smug that he looms over the other 1/4 scale resident in my collection (please forgive the unpainted state of that figure, it's a gargage kit thing, and I've yet to get around to deciding what to do with him)

27819260933_bfc4c1060a_c.jpg

And finally Tony's bubble of smug height-related superiority is burst.

Apologies for the double-post, haven't quite managed to get the "Edit" function on here working!

Some more slightly better shot photos, I'm having far too much fun with this big guy considering he's supposed to be a cabinet dweller!

Not quite schwarma, but a fair substitute!

Having to lower himself to using *shudder* a Sony laptop

Glasses? What glasses? Tony Stark doesn't need glasses!

And a final cheeky shot, MCU Tony would totally do something like this with the suit on...
(sorry, this one occurred to me just as I'd nearly packed everything away again, hence all the protective wrapping!)

Great pics Vetinari! I love the bunny slippers one the best lol. I purchased mine a few weeks ago and absolutely love this Iron man. I can't stop staring at how good this head sculpt came out.

Thanks! I always end up taking silly little stories with my Iron Man figures, no idea why... Yeah I've got to admit the headsculpt was thing that made me pull the trigger with this guy!

(Though drat - he's totally made me re-examine all of the previous Tony Stark/Iron Man Hot Toys releases that I had passed up... :slap I think I may very well end up culling some of the (probably off-topic for this whole forum bjds) hoarde to fund a few more Tony Stark related purchases...)

Drat - finally got around to finding a shop nearby that had enough brand new batteries to properly check the electronics.

Previously both the lower leg sets only semi-lit up, but wasn't too worried since the batteries weren't exactly full juice. Unfortunately the lower right leg flickered brightly once, that fourth LED remained stubbornly dead, and the brand spanking new batteries were drained completely within thirty seconds... I'm guessing there's a short circuit.

I do hope I can get a replacement part or figure, because in every other way this thing is sheer perfection and I really really don't want to risk the paint by trying to crack open that leg to get to the innards.

Sorry to hear that, Vetinari. My mark 1/4 has also a problem with the lights. It's minor but it's still there. The chest reactor keeps flickering dimly when the switch is off. Both on options work fine. It's annoying since I have to take the batteries off to really turn it off. But I can live with that. In your case, I would definitely try a reposition.

Love the photos, Vetinari, and I'm sorry about the issues you're having. I haven't yet bought new batteries for mine, so I don't know--and at any rate, I bought from a friend so I can't have it replaced. Still, the chest and head matter more than anything else to me; I can live without the arms and legs.

By the way, great name. Classy and dangerous :wink1:

Thanks guys - yeah I'll give the electronics one final jiggle to see if they sputter to life before I pack him up completely to go back to the retailer. (Sigh!)

I think if he weren't still in stock at the retailer I bought him from I'd be happy as is, but given I'm in the UK a no fuss (no fees) swap is open to me - I think I'm going to go one round of swaps, and if the next one also has dodgy electronics call it a day. (Fingers crossed the replacement Iron Giant Man has better QC and not worse! I'm already neurotically dreading opening up the new new MKXLIII and seeing an absolute horror story!)

(InebriatedGnome thanks! :) It's my default name online when I can get it, though I admit personality-wise it's a poor fit!)

I see. It looks like it's a common problem for this figure. I have the same issue with mine on the left leg. I bought mine at midtown comics & they have no replacement. They are retailers of ssc so they tried to contact them but they didn't have replacement as well. I didn't want to return it so at least midtown gave me a $75 refund even though I didn't ask for it.
