Should've gone with plastic. Bar the Mark 42, all of them look like Iron Woman, whatw with all those wide hips and small waists.

Patriot and Gemini probably look the worst imo.

@eric: great pics :hi5:
@tdk: hot toys also making iron man in diescast, maybe there's a way to make it works & not impossible to making these things. At least the mark 42 is looking better than the rest of it where PI no doubt putting much effort than other protos.:dunno

Yeah it's really a shame. The prototypes looked so promising and this is what they came up with? Even 42 looks like he's wearing a diaper. I don't see how they can pass this off as acceptable when hot toys die cast look fine. Maybe they'll tweak it in the next month's.

Here's a comparison of the 1/4 scale versus the actual suit. Pretty close even though some spots have the wrong colors :lol

The wide hips are one thing, but is there anyone else being discouraged by the gaps?

On the diecast model (above left), look at the gap created where the chest meets the abdomen. Also, look at that huge gap where the legs meet with the underwear. :slap

Now compare that with the plastic version (below left).
The plastic prototype was much better in this regard:

I also don't like those gaps. hot toys' also has that gap around chest, but not as bad around thighs near underwear.

I guess diecast models need more room for articulations? I noticed Hot Toy's versions has gaps too.

This could be true due to the die cast needing to be thicker so it isn't fragile. But hot toys gaps (mainly in the underwear/hip area) are not as noticeable and an eye sore like these. I think pI is just trying too hard to make all these expensive figures in different versions too quick. They need to take their time and get it right. Does the 1/6 mark VII they're making even exist??

Hot Toys is pretty bad too depending on which way you bend the figure. But i definitely agree that PI should concentrate on releasing one or two good suits first instead of rushing to get so many done. Their rush jobs definitely reflect on these prototypes.

This is why PI shouldn't have shown non articulated prototypes. In HT case, what you see is what you get.

:exactly: at least we aren't gonna be shocked with these j lo hips PI is giving us! Hot toys chest gap is actually pretty noticeable but I can live with it. It's the hips that get me. They look like Hammer industries made them!

Hopefully they fix it somehow because a nice 1/4 iron man would be pretty amazing in any collection! Fingers crossed.

at least it probably will turn out great:yess:
I'll be waiting for your review then. did you also order the HT mark 7?

Yep, but Australian stock of the HT mark vii is not due till september unfortunately. will do a comparison video when I have em both in hand though :-D

That gap is inevitable for diecast figures. No sense making comparison to the plastic prototypes.

:exactly: But I have a feeling that HT might work on improving that.

It is much better than PI's and quite screen-accurate. In the movie, the suit's legs were all CGI. In a real world, if there wasn't any clearance between the thighs and crotch area, Tony would've sounded like a chipmunk after his very first suit diagnostic. :lol
