Well I did post a movie screenshot that shows War Machine standing with pretty relaxed arms. Maybe not completely straight, but who's saying anybody does that though? Are you implying that the long elbows would be noticeable only if the arms were kept completely straight? If so then I respectfully disagree.

That was in response to your criticism that all the bloggers pics show this figure with bent elbows, as if that's strange. That's all. I'm not arguing whether they look long or not. When HT posted that comparison pic it was one of the first "flaws" that caught my eye in a vast sea of improvements.

As far as the pull down feature though, I agree that it would've been nice to have it. Did HT consider it? Is there a reason why it isn't there? Who knows? I'd love to think that they couldn't implement that feature but HT is the same company who made the Mk3 a midget and gave it that incredibly gimmicky ab twist feature.

We'll just have to agree to disagree. There's no evidence to suggest it definitely could not have been done, and to my eyes it looks like the upper part of the elbow joint would have enough room to simply slide up into the bicep when the double joint is not in use if the feature were implemented.

Hot Toys has made some magnificent figures, but they're not infallible. Look no further than the Diecast Mark III. Great looking figure, but look at how it completely disregards almost all of the improvements that Hot Toys has engineered since they began the Diecast line starting with the Iron Patriot and Mark 42. They make some odd decisions sometimes.

Ah, I see, my mistake. We're on the same page at least, especially in regards to the Mark III!

In Barrow Roll's defense, thats how I read your comment as well. There is almost an air of sarcasm in there. Not really a good argument either.

Who really just comfortably stands with their elbows completely straight though?

On the bright side, if slightly longer elbows is the biggest problem, we still have a great figure on our hands.
The biggest problem I found was the magnets in the Rhodey head do not line up well to allow the face plate to sit in the open position. I doubt I ever would have displayed him like that anyway but the option would've been nice.

Do you have the figure? Can you pose the arms straight down and see if the elbows can be shortened (pushed up if that is even possible)?

I'm not arguing anything in regard to the elbow length. I agree that they look a bit long. There was sarcasm in there because he made it seem as if all the blogger's were in on the long elbow length so they said "hey let's all bend their elbows in our pictures." Now, when he brought up the elbow pull down feature of previous figures, that was a great argument.

Also, there's an air of condescension in a lot of stuff you post. But I mostly just lurk in threads so that's none of my business.

I don't think the bloggers were in on some kind of conspiracy to make Hot Toys' new figure look amazing, but I wouldn't be surprised if they simply thought that a standard museum pose wasn't all that flattering to this figure because of the length of the elbows. It just seems kind of peculiar to not include a photo of standard museum pose for this figure when it's done for pretty much every other release.

That's entirely possible. I much prefer a relaxed standing pose as opposed to a straight up and down standard museum post though, so I may be biased. Anyway, the sarcasm was meant to be light and didn't directly contribute to the elbow issue, so for that I apologize if it rubbed you the wrong way. They do look long and I was really hoping for the elbow pull down feature. But the figure appears to be an upgrade in every other way and the longer elbow doesn't come close to detracting from the overall beauty of the figure.

No they can't, it's a double jointed elbow rather than the push up/down type.
Well I guess that's that.

Take it or leave it.

I'm pretty sure there is a pretty good reason why HT decided to go this route.

In any case, none of our opinions can change the way the figure is.

Let's just enjoy it for what it is.

I agree, I also prefer a more relaxed standing pose. In fact, that's more what I was referring to when I said museum pose so perhaps I was using the wrong terminology. Here's how I have some of my figures setup right now just due to a lack of space, but the way I have them posed is more along the lines of what I meant by museum pose.

I appreciate the apology, but I wasn't really upset. Glad we can all be civil, I've seen some conversations here turn into absolute dumpster fires! Now that's enough about elbows, it is what it is afterall.

That looks amazing! Can't wait for this figure. But the Mk6 wait is going to be so brutal...

Yeah, it's a bad habit. I apologize.

Wasn't expecting that... it's all good man.

Amen to that! The incoming Mark VI (my favourite movie design by far) was one of the deciding factors which made me buy this one.

It was THE deciding factor for me lol. I was pretty on the fence since I already planned to get the Mk46 and wanted them to movie match. The Mk6 announcement made it a no brainer.

The wait will not be brutal, unless your holding your breath. Then it will be a killer. ;)
Ryan

The Mk45 wait was good practice. I'm sure I'll be able to be patient............. :thud:

Maybe because none of the other armors, including your posted example, are as bulky as WM MkI. There is a lot of bulk added throughout the entire frame that may limit the easier movement of less bulky figures. Anyone remember Ralphie's little brother in, "A Christmas Story" when his mother dressed him for the cold? He couldn't put his arms down or get up off the ground because of so much bulk and limited movement. Just a thought.
Ryan

if you look at the elbow it has nothing to do with bulk, theres clearly an elongated elbow joint, being able to push it up doesnt appear that it would hinder or interfere with "Bulky armor"
