Re: 12" Obi-Wan IMAGE Thread

Seeing all of these great pictures is causing a huge dilemma for how I am going to pose Obi and Qui.

Re: 12" Obi-Wan IMAGE Thread

Anyone here notice how short Mace is compared to Obi-Wan?

Even though Mace looks a tad smaller, he does seem much better proportioned overall.

If I'm right, in the movies, Mace and Anakin are about the same height, and OBI is a tad shorter than both. Correct?

Re: 12" Obi-Wan IMAGE Thread

I got my Obi-Wan today. Mine was incredibly wrinkled so I decided to re-dress him (I'm not too sure about ironing this tunic fabric), and I'm still not satisfied.

Mine came with this seam on the front of his Tabard that was caused when fabric waist band was stitched to the left shoulder part while it was slightly folded. It's been bothering me ever since I noticed it. I tried to get this seam out but it appears the only way I can fix this is if I take the tabard apart at the stitching and re-sew the three pieces together.

The other thing that's bothering me is that his face seems somewhat asymmetrical. The left side (his left) cheekbone is somewhat flatter then his right, and the left brow ridge is slightly further forward then the right brow ridge.

Anybody else notice this on their Obi-Wans or is it just mine? Maybe mine got pulled out of the mold poorly?

Re: 12" Obi-Wan IMAGE Thread

Sounds like a mold pull problem, dunno wont have mine in hand till monday.

Though from the pics of people comparing the production one to the prototype, it seems almost like the head got squashed down a bit, expanded out to the sides, giving him a arounder overall melon than the prototype seemed to have, but i dunno.

Sucks about the costume problems... hopefully you can work somethin out.

Re: 12" Obi-Wan IMAGE Thread

Sorry to hear that, but the tabard does seem "futzable". The Obi HS is the best SW 12" Sculpt yet IMO, mine anyway is just superb!

Actually, looking at this photo, I can see the slight asymmetry in Pjam's head, so it appears that this is a common feature amongst all of the Obi-Wans and not just in mine.
I'll still have to figure out what I'll do about that creased tabbard.

Actually that pic was taken/posted by our boy Wor-Gar but you are right in assuming the sculpt is consistent for everyone.

Still, I truly believe this Obi Andy Bergholtz sculpt is simply phenomenal. BTW, DarkArtist will be repainting his hair/beard for me SDCC Style and I'll ask him to post pics of it for you guys.

Oh it's a great sculpt, Andy did a superb job! I was just thinking that my figure came out of the mold wrong.
Wor-Gar's picture shows what I'm talking about. It's not a major problem, I just never saw this before in other pictures.

Re: 12" Obi-Wan IMAGE Thread

What a great Sideshow Day! Got Plo Koon ordered and Kenobi finally arrived up here to the NorthEast!

Fresh outta the box and a quick futz...

I'm extremely pleased with this figure....the sculpt is amazing and after all of the intense back n' forth illustrated with some of the fine photography from the regular posters, I was nervous about the paint apps but....I think he looks great. He features varied skin tones(not pasty like Anakin), subtle hightlights to the hair (yes, the color is a little dark but....it looks just fine)and just a touch of grey which doesn't look as intense as the pictures. Once again we've got a great figure that looks fantastic in "person".

Some folks have mentioned this but it bears repeating...the jedi tunic is the right color but it is made out of a really thin material that frays easily so use care when futzing. I used a very light iron on it and when redressing him found that the tunic laid better not using the snaps The waistband and belt keep things firmly in place. Also, the robe has the same unfinished edge that the other jedi figures have featured and this one seemed a little more frayed so again, use care and snip, don't pull those loose threads...

And I've come to the conclusion that I am NEVER going to recieve a figure from this company that doesn't have a damage, ding, bent and/or crushed box. I'm glad Amy is so pleasant to talk to, because I'll be calling for a new one next week;). And did anyone else notice that Agen Kolar and Saesee Tinn are mentioned in the text about Obi-Wan? Interesting...could the two remaining jedi who participate in that fateful arrest be on the SS horizon someday? One can hope....

It's just so wonderful finally having the Negotiator!

I hope any other folks getting theirs soon keep the images coming!

Re: 12" Obi-Wan IMAGE Thread

Hey to everyone , im knew to Sideshow freaks and this is my first entry, and its kinda randam and i dont think anyone has asked so i guess i will. Besides the paintjob and clothing. What about Obi-Kenobi's joints? Like anyone else here, ive bought my share of figures from little ones to 12" inch ones and one thing that bugs me the most is loose joints, so anyone who has gotten their Obi-Kenobi's please say something..

Thanks

Re: 12" Obi-Wan IMAGE Thread

I cant remember who made the sculpt of Obi-Wan's head, that most thought looked like Russell Crowe, but Props to you. Artist to artist, i think that its pretty impressive. Ill admit it doesnt look exactly like Obi, but its pretty close. One thing i noticed about others opinion about it is that they never said any thing about the detail that went into it. I love detail and i notice it often. I can definately tell that you put alot of effort into it. Great job, and if your iterested in some of my drawings ill post some if you want..

I'll say this....I'm glad they include stands and I won't display my SS figures without them. Yes, the joints are loose on the Obi-Wan I just recieved. But so far, the figure that featured reallyloose joint was Kit Fisto...add to that his big heavy head and there was no way this guy was goin' without a stand....

Great paintwork! You really brought out every little detail. He looks a bit older than even in ROTS, like maybe this is ten years later, after spending a decade or so on Tatooine!

One thing though, what's with the turtleneck??
