Wow....thanks a LOT guys! That head looks fantastic mounted!! Too bad it's still tacky. I hate my sealer, it always does that to me. I seriously need to switch out and change that stuff. It does dry eventually, just takes forever.

Can't wait to see more pics of it Paul!!! :chew

Ok boss, your wish is my command!

I only took 3 different angled "first blush" shots so here they are. Much better shots in different/better light to come!

Re: 12" Obi-Wan IMAGE Thread

I feel like I'm the last one to the party, but I finally got Obi-Wan today. I was extremely pleased with the paintjob on mine. The grey in the moustache is very faint (virtually imperceptible unless you flash a light directly on it) and well blended, their appears to be no grey at all in the beard itself. Skintone looks great, paint's not too thick. Hair's not as dark as it appears in pics, and has some nicely blended highlights, especially in the beard. I know a lot of people weren't happy with theirs, but I'd be very pleased if they all turned out this well.

Man, that looks great! DA, you really outdid yourself on this one!!! BTW, have you tried a bleach pen to get out the staining on your tunic? If you leave it on too long it may make the whiter where you use it, but those things are amazing at removing stains... just a thought.

Thanks GB! I have not tried that... but now that you mention it.... that would work....if it indeed...works..:lol

I hope so... I hate that the belt stained the fabric!! If anything I can always get another Obi and make this one "Mustafar style" Obi... :chew

When using the water treatment, you are supposed to remove the items that might get damaged by the water, like the belts, and not put them back on until it dries. That is why it left a stain. :D

Well, I didn't water treat like RS said to... I did it seperately, and the belt was dry. But like an idiot I put the belt on afterwards (to see what it would look like) and forgot to take it off when I went to sleep.

I soak the clothing and put it on piece by piece instead of soaking from above while fully dressed, I think it allows more play with the clothing folds and doesn't fill the boots full of water. :D

Re: 12" Obi-Wan IMAGE Thread

I just got mine yesterday as well. From how you describe yours sounds exactly how mine looks. Paint job is perfect and the grey in the moustache is barely noticeable. For a 12" figure, the likeness can't get anymore dead-on than what it is. This is my first 12" Sideshow figure and I'm 100 percent happy with it.

Would someone provide a link to that RS water treatment tutorial?

Re: 12" Obi-Wan IMAGE Thread

Does anybody know of a good Matte Finish spray for acrylics. i repainted obi's hair and i want to seal it.

Re: 12" Obi-Wan IMAGE Thread

Brush on sealer is better than spray, right? Doesn't the spray-on sealer , even a matte, leave a somewhat shiny coat and make the acrylics bleed together?

Re: 12" Obi-Wan IMAGE Thread

I've found that testors brush on dull coate is best. I've never been happy with any spray I've used.
The only "trick" with the brushable type is to go over the area lightly and only go over it once until the dull coate dries. Otherwise you can get uneven paint and sometimes the paint will begin to wear off.

Re: 12" Obi-Wan IMAGE Thread

Well here's my kinda half-assed hair/beard repaint:
obirepaint.jpg

Sticking mainly to promo pics for reference, where the hair is on the darker side like the original hair but not so much so, and a little more/reddish/blondish and lightened the beard since it was a bit blondish. Hard to photograph as all get out, had to settle for flash pics, only way it came out right.

It's got grey highlights on the sideburns and the mustache and lightly in the beard to just add some extra to it. It's not perfect or as good as others but it looks like i want it too so it serves the purpose :D
