The sculpt with the sculpted hair seems more accurate, though it's hard to tell from the given photos.

I'm guessing the decision to go sculpted is to ensure that production figures are all uniform as it looks like a lot could go wrong with the hair style. The sculpted version also looks closer to the real thing in this case. Ordinarily I'd have nothing against 'real' hair.

I'm not sure either sculpt manages her likeness but sculpted hair is really a safer bet. Less limiting on an Aliens version admittedly.

Would be great if they re-released a new and improved Big Chap, Dallas and Kane, along with Colonial Marines redos. Quality has improved and a lot more collectors are out there. Still swapping out the hair is a step back. As it is the figure is probably going to cost a small fortune for those like me who will also want the Power Loader. Now I'm going to have to get it haired in the aftermarket. Maybe HT will surprise us and include both portraits. I'd be willing to pay extra for a DX version with all the bells and whistles--Power Loader, haired portrait, short hair "Aliens" version and maybe a couple of additional accessories.

Surprised to see the sculpted hair - not the step forward in rooted hair I thought HTs would aim for these days.
Sculpt seems more lifelike - I'm not 100% on likeness though.

We'll see... need more pics

That reference shot is a bit deceptive. Generally, her hair in the film did not look so feathered and Farrah Fawcett-like. More like this:

And unlike previous magazine announcement (Japanese Hobby magazine - Figure-Oh), they are NOT accepting pre-orders for Ripley..

Hopefully that cosbaby means a real 1/6 Marine is on the way. I've streamlined all future collectibles to Star Wars only but I'd make an exception for ALIENS.

i need to see proper promo pics to decided? i hate the way the real hair starts to stand out after a while on display but then again fake looks like spaghetti

i need a new and improved alien 3 dog figure pronto!
