Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)
I'm so glad to know of another person who wasn't impressed with the Police Shootout T-800. Very underwhelming look to it. Just didn't have that oomph that you'd expect from such an iconic piece, yet the majority of people lost their minds over the thing.
My frustration lies with the notion that most sculpts start out rough, but then occasionally get refined -- yet more and more it's becoming apparent that HT is only taking the accuracy component seriously when it comes to the Marvel licenses. With The Crow, Terminator, and Ripley, they stopped at "close-ish." There was no desire to go beyond that, even while prices rose.
Internet meme-ery aside (this thread in particular has thrived on it where others have simply died off), $250 is a lot of cash. Having a problem with the likeness of a figure at that price point is pretty valid.
Not to mention that philtrum of his.
To be honest, I didn't think the rooted sculpt likeness was all that great. But at least the presentation was decent. It could be lighting or bad pics but this seems like a half-assed job, like with Police Shootout T1, Matrix and Keaton Wayne.

People are so spoiled and feel entitled that their little toys should look exactly like the real person or they throw a tantrum or make outlandish claims like it looks like this person or that or whatever person they can come up with that they think might get them a giggle from someone, it's pathetic and old.
