I would think they would. It's a good excuse to re-release Stormtroopers and give people another crack at being able to order them at retail. The description for the current pair reads: "The movie-accurate collectible figures are specially crafted based on the image of Stormtroopers in Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope featuring bodies with two different heights...".

Have to say, ST went checking inventory faster than I expected. For anyone that missed out, jump on the waitlist as soon as it's up (as a few have mentioned). Since this is Star Wars, I really expect that it will turn out to a biggish exclusive. I remember with Midas, the waitlist was still active and converting like 6 months after it sold out. I think there is a lot of behind the scenes inventory management that goes on with these exclusives between HT and Sideshow.

I also wondered if some secondary sources are able to order on a sale or return basis.. and that stock is eventually fed back into the system.
:dunno

Glad I got my one. Kinda hope they keep this really limited. I hope everyone that wants one can score one, but tired of the 'limited editions of only 150,000!!!!' type gimmicks

Khev: thanks for the posting...very cool and not sure if intentional or not, but had no idea that the idea was around that long...!!!

I really didn't know how fast this would see but glad i got mine. It's cool that it will be hot toys first release since they got the license

They're a really cool design. A black stormtrooper just works (unlike a white Vader!). I would love it if these guys appeared in Rebels to bring them into canon.

No problem guys.

What continually surprises me is that for as much as companies love to milk "troopers" we have yet to see after 37 years anyone make an action figure or statue of the outer space stormies that watch the Falcon dock with the Death Star in ANH.

Stormtrooper variants from the actual MOVIE that have been ignored for so long.

So has there ever been a black Stormtrooper in any comic/game/etc that has this shoulder pauldron? Or is it something Hot Toys just added for no reason?

The hasbro 6 inch black series exclusive target release that came out in October has the pauldron too.

Hasbro 6 inch one that came out a couple of months ago also has one.

I just noticed it says in the third paragraph of the figures description that it is weathered... Anyone spot any weathering in the pics?

Edit: zooming in on the pics shows minor edge wear on the armor and slight scuffing.

I really hope this is something they might do. I doubt I'd go for an ESB trooper as it's the same thing with minor touch ups, but the ROTJ Stormtrooper is different enough for me to want one.

I tend to stay away from ROTJ, but I'd be all over a couple of ESB stormtroopers; the paint is different; the eyes are slightly different but I wouldn't bet on HT going that hardcore and tweaking the eyes. I need to check references but I think the holsters aren't just switched but constructed mirrored, which if true, makes a big difference, although there are two troopers during the Bespin escape that have them ANH style so if you really wanted you could just repaint the frowns...or wait for a Hot Toys variant...

It's such a small thing, really. I wouldn't lose sleep over it but it's one of those little details I would enjoy seeing done.

Oh Hasbro finally did them huh. Still surprised that no high end company has tackled them, especially since we've gotten multiple stormies from comics and video games now.

Pretty obscure, although Hasbro did a 3.75" version a while back. Pretty good helmet sculpt, too...with the actor/stand-in's likeness beneath to match a behind the scenes photo.

WHOOPS...on my phone, didn't see it mentioned already above.

Hasbro's oxygen tanks were inaccurate. Marmit had an accurate prototype which went the way of their Vader.

Preordered in case he sells out. Otherwise not thrilled with this release at all. How about Tarkin so I can avoid displaying Hasbro one.

He did sell out. He sold out in about 12 hours. Not bad at all.
