I’d like to see IM survive so RDJ can do a ‘smaller’ movie with the ‘Demon In The Bottle’ storyline, adapted in relation to the aftermath of Infinity War. It’ll never happen , though. Done right, It could be compared to Hugh Jackman’s swan song in ‘Logan.’
And the character still wouldn’t have to die.

This so much. Been saying it since IM3. It already introduced PTSD to his arc, then AoU was literally a story about how he destroyed a freaking nation based on that fear of an alien attack. Once this Thanos storyline is over, it would be the perfect time to introduce "Demon in a Bottle" for a final IM4. Have no idea how it would work, who the villain would be, etc., maybe "Demon in a Bottle" mixed with some version of "Execute Program," except he's just a drunk guy lol.

Anyway, point being it may be a nice way to wrap up RDJ's career as IM. Either he dies sacrificing himself or is finally truly content with giving up the armor.

Disney would never allow the demon in bottle due to kids. I guess some moms were not happy about the drunk scene in IM2. Fox buying the rights to IM is the only way that will ever happen.

I think the PTSD in IM3 was as close as we'll get to Demon in the Bottle. Honestly I think that's the smart move and I am fine with that.

No, Demon In A Bottle is an "Empire Strikes Back" toned story. The sort of story you put into the middle of an arc, showing the good guy falling down, but then eventually redeeming himself. It's not a movie you close out a massive ten year franchise with.

And it's certainly not the kind of movie we're going to get with a superhero that now routinely adorns children's lunchboxes ;)

Do you think we'll get a Mark 50 materializing version? Like the one where the suit is still forming around him?

Would be very cool if they can pull it off.

HT has done numerous Tony Starks. Rose Hill, the Mechanic, etc. This one would be the best of them all. It'll be awhile I bet, but there will be one. HT is Iron whores.

Its curious how, with Captain America they said 'mystery weapon to be revealed' yet they did not do that with Iron Man and everyone is expecting they will add some more parts to this. :dunno

Actually, with Marvel/Disney’s push for making their comic book movies with more mature/dynamic themes grounded even more so in reality, I could see that being an option. Well not really an option I guess since RDJ/Stark is dead/end of contract after Avengers 4.

Grounded in reality? Yeah.

Mature? Eh... I guess in a certain context.

But ever crossing the line past being family-friendly? No, I don't see that happening. And a descent into addiction/alcoholism, that's dark material. You can't do that story "jokey jokey, ha ha stuff is hard but we're all still having a good time" style.

Disney already said no to the Demon in the Bottle storyline in an interview a few years back. Can't remember who it was IM3 director maybe but they said it was talked about and shot down. Jessica Jones is about as close as we will get for awhile.

RDJ will do this for as long as he can, and for as long as Marvel Studios gives him interesting things to do.

I want him to be around as the sort of bridge to the whole history and scope of the MCU, sort of what he did in Homecoming and how RDJ does for all the actors coming into the MCU. I think that’s a role he relishes.

Even if it’s just voice over cameos over an Iron Man suit. Even if there’s never an Iron Man 4. Him appearing from time to time serves as a very organic connective tissue.

Like they’ve said, when the time comes, they’ll just James Bond it for some characters. Actors will change for some characters and we’ll have no in-universe acknowledgement other than from Deadpool maybe. Iron Man seems likely for that. In some other cases, they’ll pass the mantle on. Captain America seems likely for that.

Kevin Feige has said he doesn't really see anyone else taking over these roles. I'd be surprised if they went the same route, unless they reboot the whole MCU 15-20 years down the line. I just don't think it's really in the cards right now.

The figure is missing a lot it seems. This ^^^, the two wrap over repulsors, the two "swords". There was also a random tv spot with him shooting missles out of his shoulders while flying from an extended section that came out. they need to get to work on the extra stuff :lol
