Plus these are bigger, so they take up more room for no reason. I doubt this could be to help with the weight.

Yes, IP can be made to look just as stupid.

The double action shoulder is only there if you want the shoulder joint to articulate up farther

With the shoulders up it goes this high, its blocked by the shoulder armor cap

You pull the joint down and now you can put it up like this, the extra space lets that armor on the shoulder roll into the gap it creates

But if you leave the shoulder down without using the articulation for an extreme pose you end up with this abomination

The large amount the shoulder joint moves will really throw off the look of the figure if you have absolutely no idea what you are doing. The different design of the armor shoulder cap makes it look even worse on 42, but it is still a product of the misuse of the double shoulder joint.

Yupp its not a knock on the figure itself, its just people not knowing how to pose figures decently.

Wish they never changed the shape of the base for these, should have just stuck with the old HOA style that way they'd integrate perfectly with older IM releases. :banghead

I don't like the HOA Bases or the round Wine Cellar bases because the only pose the looks correct is the inactive armor pose.

I decided to make my own bases and for my War Machine collection but this fellow will go in the center bay of my 13 bay HOA display.

Exactly why I like the circular base, which i'm waiting for from Silver Centurion so I could put my 42 on it with Centurion being part of my Hall of Armor display behind Tony. I think it's gonna look great.

I thought you built your own HOA displays? If you don't like them why would you bother building them?

I said I don't like the HOA "base". The trapezoidal base and rod that comes with the IM2 figures.

They are small and IMO they only look right if you stick the feet into the foot pads, which is the same reason I don't like the circular bases with the foot pads.

I like the HOA bays (full units) and don't mind using them to display figures in the inactive pose.

However, the radius created when interconnecting bays is far to deep for my display area, so I decided to modify them so they can be interconnected in a straight line, which will allow me to display up to 13 bays in the area my wife picked.

I should be getting another 4 bay set and will be incorporating it into my current display which will give me 11 bays.

Gotcha.

That's one area HT slipped up, instead of releasing the trapezoid HOA style bases early on they should have nixxed them and went straight into the HOA dio's.

If people could have started picking them up one or two at a time per figure release they'd have sold way more units.

Dropping ~$900 or whatever it is now to grab seven or more of them for all the figure releases in the past is brutal.

It would have been cool if they did like PI and released the figure and the figure with a HOA Bay

Still cant afford my dream HOA bays. I got all 7 armors and Tony, but no HOA. Its rediculous how much $$$ has to be out into them

If I was going to display these I wouldn't use the bases, IMO some bases work well but others subtract from the figure. I don't display them anyway so :dunno
