Nah, if you're going to do Bleeding Edge on screen then they'd just do it. A Mk 42 variant isn't a nod to that armor imo.

Obvious differences aside, I thought the 42 was Hollywood's nod to the Extremis Armor and story arc? Seeing a take on the Bleeding edge would be nice...dunno how Hot Toys would be able to deal with all the lights though.

You are wrong. This is from Hot Toys Official facebook page. And also this not a SDCC exclusive. It's a Ani-Com exclusive. Last year we got 4 exclusives from all summer expos... ( Colton,Sups,Cap and Midas)
