Just livin' the dream, man! Who wouldn't want to get paid for their passion?

I think the point Nick was making, was whether or not getting figures early and free of charge, creates a moral hazard that the review may not be quite as rigorous, as when the collector has had to pay for the figure.. However I think most collectors would pick up on reviewers who are overly positive, about every figure they review.. I have seen a few of these, but they tend to be on YouTube channels belonging to peeps selling collectibles as a business (which is to be expected).
I tend to use a variety of reviews, to get a balanced picture.

Well, he idolizes the hell out of everything he gets.

He shouldn't call what he does "reviews" as they are not objective at all. "Commercials" should be better suited for what he does. "Advertising", that sort of thing.

As much hate as the Clipper King gets, he's my favorite reviewer.

Rick is honest and actually pays for his stuff meaning no bias. Other "reviewers" get everything for free and say everything is awesome and a great value. An advertisement is exactly what it is.

'Infomercial' is probably the most accurate term for non-critical reviews, aimed at selling product.

getting paid is one thing, selling-out for handouts is another
LOL. The guys reviews suck but Id sure like to get free toys and rave over them on youtube, doesn't seem like a bad gig. Good for him. But for an honest review I watch guys that pay for them(as others have mentioned) because they tend to not be biased or infomercially.

Please, You'd do it in a heartbeat. I would.

No way man. Integrity is more important than free toys. I'd rather be honest and pay for my stuff than have to say everything is awesome to get it for free. Most people that make reviews do it to give the collecting community an honest look and opinion on the items.

Sounds about right :lol

Sean is what I'd call a Hot Toys devotee. He's never critical of their product but is any YouTube reviewer? 95 percent of reviews are overwhelmingly positive to downright fawning.

Clipper pays HK prices to get the figures early. He put his neck on the line and called out Hot Toys when it needed to be called out. I appreciate his bravery and his honesty.

To be fair, some of the QC issues with figures may only become obvious after the advance reviews have been done.. the Hot Toys ED209 v.2 would be an example.

i keep seeing things about that ED-209, people say it's a big letdown and i've seen the reviews and the voice is horrid but what else is actually wrong with it?

All the rubber parts are rotting already.. just a couple of months after release

Refunds Minus shipping and reward points deducted. Fair, if you ask me. Considering it was past their return window.

Surprised about them taking back RP's though. I'm in the negative, lol. Still, as I said, very fair of them. International customers are screwed though.
