Pretty sure this suit has grown onto a lot of people. I remember when this was first introduced as being the new suit. Everyone was commenting about how ugly it is and some people even photoshopped it to show more red. I didn't like it either but looking at it now, it's really grown onto me and it's understandable to see why they went with this design after understanding the story a bit.

Personally, like the Mark V, it's a nice break from the usual Red + Gold.
We already have the Mark 3 + 4 + 6 + 7 with the traditional look, it's already a nice break from it. I agree that it's not the best color scheme but it's something that has really grown onto me.

If I had one critique of this figure it would be that they cut the chest plate a little too high in the middle section. It appears to come down lower on the suit in the movie. That's a minor quibble and one that Hot Toys might fix in production anyway. Otherwise I like this suit a lot.

Aside from the way the chest seems to float around the waist (something I'm willing to overlook), I think the figure turned out fantastic. Really impressive. I just fear if any articulation was compromised because of the new die cast materials. Otherwise it looks great in that strong, defiant static stance.

The only gripe is the gap between the ab bit

It looks to be worse in the proto pictures compared to actual in-hand pictures. I think it's something that can be simply pushed forward a little to get rid of the gap. Can be easily overlooked when you actually have it in your hands it seems.

When was Hot Toys last (non-comic) movie figure besides Barney Ross? Seems like ages ago....

Gotcha. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the whole 40/60 die-cast/plastic thing; if only 40% of these figures are die-cast, I can't imagine which parts those would be...

I am with you there. The wait is on.

One thing I noticed: This figure has no BD leg pieces. And I don't know if it's possible to have BD in diecast pieces, so, that makes me think that the diecast portion is going to be on its legs only. It'd be almost 40% of the figure, I guess.

People seem pretty damn sure the lower torso is die-cast, because the details are softer. Keep in mind the 40% figure was specifically about Iron Patriot - so this one could have more or less.

If I had to guess, I'd say the die cast parts would be the feet, the knees and nearest parts, the lower torso, and the upper arms. Any swappable parts are plastic.

Mid-torso might be diecast, unsure. But regardless, in the magazine interview, They ( Hot toys) said the diecast is mostly located in the joints. and that they were adding in ratchet joints. So take that as you will.

I think it looks great, I would have considered getting it, but HT have completely oversaturated the license. Just too much, to the point where I have lost interest in ALL of them. In fact my rather large existing collection of Iron Man stuff may get sold off now as well.

very silly HT....IMO.

Totally understandable. And sorry to hear that.

( whispers - please keep me in mind if you have an IM2 Mark VI to sell. Its the only one I don't have ) :wave

I was very happy when they annnounced the Diecast series because I was sure that HT was planning to release all previous mark suits (1-6) and that was a new hope for people like me that started on the Iron Man series late in the game and it would represent a different option besides getting the previous figures for a crazy price from the ebay mercenaries.

But the time is taking HT to release each of their figures is just killing me, a year? come on.

They have other figures coming out I assume. And why does it matter if it's a year from now? If they had it for November this year, it would be delayed til next year anyway, saves us the hassle of going through delays and hopefully this is them just giving us a far away date instead of delaying the figure constantly.

I am in the same boat - got into the HT IM game late but as long as they do go back and release the older suits in the new diecast line I have no problem waiting. I can't afford buying that many per year at these prices any way so the long wait is fine with me

They aren't going to do the whole line in Diecast anytime soon. Foolish to think that. They said 15 Iron Man 3 figures, the Mark 42 alone is releasing in Feb 2014, so that's a 3 month gap between the Iron Patriot and the Mark 42.
Meaning in one year they can only release 4 Iron Man Mark suits, and this is WITHOUT other figures they plan on releasing.
If they were to even release all 15 Iron Man figures, it would go past 2017.

The most I see us getting is the Mark 3 in Diecast and the Mark VII as well. Your best shot at the past figures is to simply buy them now before they rise as time goes by.
