loving this fig with all new pics being posted..and the gap on the chest there isn't that big like the promo shots..so happy to have this on PO

One thing I noticed: This figure has no BD leg pieces. And I don't know if it's possible to have BD in diecast pieces, so, that makes me think that the diecast portion is going to be on its legs only. It'd be almost 40% of the figure, I guess.

Some new shots. Honestly looks great in better lighting.

I can see HT doing the same thing with this as they are doing with the MKVII and release a special BD edition (with a Pepper HS) next spring.

The BD on this is just way to light compared to what i have seen in the movie trailers.

People seem pretty damn sure the lower torso is die-cast, because the details are softer. Keep in mind the 40% figure was specifically about Iron Patriot - so this one could have more or less.

If I had to guess, I'd say the die cast parts would be the feet, the knees and nearest parts, the lower torso, and the upper arms. Any swappable parts are plastic.

I do believe that is the first time that on.cc's photos have been referred to as "better lighting".

I meant compared to the event shots we got. I'm never a fan of on.cc's pictures. The only thing I like about them is that they get inhand pictures first before anybody 3/4 the time.

But that lighting is more natural compared to the over blinding lights we saw on the first inhand pictures of this figure. It looks great there.

That'd probably make its weight well balanced. Well, we'll have to wait and see. Waiting for the retailer so I can PO it along with Tony and IP and I'm done with IM3 (until they announce Mandarin, Happy Hogan and Pepper Potts, lol)

the 40% is the base :rotfl
lol, probably.

"Collectors have always been complaining that Iron Man figures from HT aren’t solid or heavy enough; so when HT received the green light to manufacture Iron Man 3 figures, we stood them on a die-cast base and raised the price by $100. Take that, *****es".

For a price of $304 I'm gonna have to stay out of this thread all together so I don't do something stupid like PO'd this....

:duff
I wouldn't go as far to say they felt "chinsy" but I admit feeling disappointed at that hollow feel you mention, particularly for the price.
I'll pay another 50 bucks or whatever to get some diecast in there.

You'd pay 50 bucks extra for them to throw on some cheaper-than-ABS, low-pressure injection, lead impurity-laden, corrosive, reactive, quickly-decomposing zinc?

Interesting that the flap above the crotch from the grey prototype is no longer flappable. Anyone spot any other changes?

:exactly: So much hate for die cast figures
I don't hate it but I do view it as a gamble I'd ideally rather not take (in regards to paint flaking off a la Captain America's shield) and I question the value of simply adding weight to add weight. People have brought some good points in favour, too (though nothing that couldn't have been done with plastic, i.e., more durable frame, better joints, etc.), so we'll see how they do over time.

I have read several blanket statements in this and and the IP thread that the paint will not adhere to the metal pieces of these diecast figures as well as it does on plastic and over time it will chip. That may be true with all things being equal but for all we know Hot Toys has developed a special bonding agent that will be applied to the metal piece before the paint is applied allowing it to adhere better to the metal surface.

My point is we don't know what the manufacturing process will be for these figures because Hot Toys hasn't said anything about it as far as I know. Maybe it has more to do with some people being upset because Hot Toys is moving away from full plastic figures and adding metal and increasing prices so they want flame any piece with metal parts. I don't know but I for one will take these comments with a gain of salt at this point because of the lack of any information on how these die-cast pieces will be manufactured,

You don't have to be Nostrodomus to know that these figures will be produced as cheaply as possible, not unlike every other diecast collectible to come from China since the dawn of Chinese diecast.

You can quote me on this--I 100% guarantee that there will be no "undercoating" on the *****+y impure zinc underneath the paint.

Somewhere down the road there will be QC issues associated with this figure, be it the paint, fragile or saggy joints, injection bubbles/marks, etc...

Loving the armor, not too excited about the price lol.

Thing I'm not liking is between this and the mk VII battle damage thread we keep getting these pics with the wackest most pedestrian waving hi to your neighbor poses. I'm all down for the repulsor blast, but make it look bad ***.

Well you seem to have everything figured out and since there is no way you could wrong my advice is to make sure you don't buy any figures from this new Diecast line because I am pretty sure you won't be happy with your purchase.
