Well you seem to have everything figured out and since there is no way you could wrong my advice is to make sure you don't buy any figures from this new Diecast line because I am pretty sure you won't be happy with your purchase.
Black Magic is right about Hot Toys producing this figure as cheaply as possible. I've gone into the future and brought back with me the first in-hand pics of the Hot Toys Mark XLII:

So much hate for die cast figures

Yes, yes. It's all hate, or trolling, if someone has even a slightly skeptical take on a product still eleven or twelve months from being released on the market.

What do you think a public forum is for?

Discussion?
Lively debates?
Comparative analysis?

NO! :nono

It's for reading the pulse of the herd mentality and then trying to fit in amongst it! :rotfl

Independent thought? :huh

Banish the notion!

William Lau of OSR commented on FB that the difference between the Diecast MMS and regular MMS will be a very welcome surprise. Especially the combination of 40/60 ( metal/plastic ). I hope he is right. We'll see.
I wonder what the surprise is other than the hiked price! :D
Seriously though, I'm most curious to know the distribution of the die-cast and plastic parts on the figure.

We want a heavier figure not Cancer
Yeah. Zinc toxicity just causes nausea, vomiting, loss of HDL and copper. I think we can live with that on top of a Ramen diet :wink1:

I can see HT doing the same thing with this as they are doing with the MKVII and release a special BD edition (with a Pepper HS) next spring.

The BD on this is just way to light compared to what i have seen in the movie trailers.
Agreed. I wanted to see his right shoulder and left bicep exposed due to BD as well as his legs.

For a price of $304 I'm gonna have to stay out of this thread all together so I don't do something stupid like PO'd this....
It's all a matter of time, my friend. Everyone gives in....

damn that looks cool! :yess:

ive pre ordered this and the Mark 7 from BBTS they will be my first IM figures. Not sure weather to cancel the Mark 7 or keep both and buy a hall of armor to display one in :)

And they better be doing a Gwyneth Paltrow - Pepper Potts one.. that would be awesome :yess:

People don't carry their statues around either but they are definitely willing to pay more for a statue if it has weight to it.

Not when they have to pay for the shipping of that weight. :nono

That's why polystone is hollow.:pow

I just need the figure to look good.

:exactly:

A Picasso needs to look good, not feel good.

If a guy wants something to feel good, then find a living woman,eh?

What's the point if the figure feels heavier? Are you going to carry it around in your jean pocket? You pose it and then leave it to display.

It is what it is so there's no going back but I would gladly take a plastic version for $50 less. Not to mention they seem to be slacking off in the battle damage section due to this being a bit of metal.

:goodpost:

A very well-stated point.

Bang vs. buck still matters, no? :monkey1

"Just because we're bereaved doesn't mean we're SAPS!"

The exposed innerframe on this battle damage does look sweet in the proto pics, though. :bow

I have this and IP on po with BBTS but I am going to hold out and wait to see if they do a separate release for her or add her HS to this one. I like this but do not want two of them at $300 each.
A Pepper MKXLII next to my stark and IP would be cool.

these new iron man figures are super exciting!

i might get them if i still feel like it when they come out and if they're available. no longer feel the need to preorder.

hot toys are still rocking it hard but i'm in a nice, comfortable mental place where i don't need to have it all anymore. :)

This suit sure is ugly

Yes, yes it is. :lol

But Iron Matador is still less garish than Iron Patriot, no?

matador.jpg

At least less jingoistic?

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the whole 40/60 die-cast/plastic thing; if only 40% of these figures are die-cast, I can't imagine which parts those would be...

Educated guess: innerframe, torso, facesculpt, helmet & hands will be plastic.

The legs and arms will contain the diecast. With possible zinc chestplate swaps for the BD.

The metallic satin finish on the thighs and biceps (from the proto pics) looks like the giveaway for the zinc alloy.

I don't hate it but I do view it as a gamble I'd ideally rather not take (in regards to paint flaking off a la Captain America's shield) and I question the value of simply adding weight to add weight. .

To be fair, I believe that's electroplated plastic. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

You don't have to be Nostrodomus to know that these figures will be produced as cheaply as possible, not unlike every other diecast collectible to come from China since the dawn of Chinese diecast.

You can quote me on this--I 100% guarantee that there will be no "undercoating" on the *****+y impure zinc underneath the paint.

Somewhere down the road there will be QC issues associated with this figure, be it the paint, fragile or saggy joints, injection bubbles/marks, etc...

Everyone can laugh, but I reckon this guy might just be proven right. QC isn't one of HT strengths. Refer to Caps shield.

Any fine parts are likely to be brittle as hell too, so the bloke who doesn't like bits falling off, boy, you might be in for a rude shock. At least plastic flexes and more often than not it's just a case of snapping the piece back into place.

Have they at least guaranteed the undies will fade to pink like the plastic Iron Man's ? It'd be weird to have this stay red and stand out too much.

Most likely they'll follow Enterbay's strategy here and when QC's pop up: "Its supposed to be like that. Thank you for your query"

Hmmm.

This armour is one that doesn't look as good as a figure than in action imo

And they better be doing a Gwyneth Paltrow - Pepper Potts one.. that would be awesome :yess:

Least figure worthy character EVER :lecture

Wasn't that HT's strategy for the severed Alien head from the Samurai Predator figure :dunno

I agree the price increase is stupid but i am really lacking good IM suits, all i have is the mk5.
I just want this, IP, heartbreaker, gemini, silver centurion, and WM.
Not really sure about the the mk3 or iron whiplash.
Hot toys really should change this lines name to " Plastic Now Featuring Die Cast! ".

In the light of the price that it would be nice would that they add

Warning SPOILER on FILM

The head of Pepper in a 2nd helmet, being give that she also bears the Mk 42

Talk about putting the pricing in stark relief (and for something that adds no value except for an intangible like 'heft'). Glad I'm not a completest on this line.

HT is saying this problem is solved because they've switched the codpiece from PVC to ABS and it shouldn't fade at all.

As you can tell by the number of my posts, I'm a Noobie on this forum. You would normally find me as a very active post-er on the kitesurfing forums. So what do I know about 1/6 figures ? well not as much as you guys.

But what I do know is that I love the iron man figures and the fact that iron man, true as the name, will now be made of some sort of iron/metal, that gets me all exited and when all the shops are sold out, then it will end up being, the have's :yess: and have not's. :slap

I think they'll do a fantastic job on the paint, its in their best interest to do so as they know they are under pressure. Other wise I don't know if we would be buying these figures in the future.
That gold plate will look awesome in hand.
My local shop/supplier has already sold out.

At first I was a little hesitant about the new suit, but it's really grown on me. I almost think they should have just gone all the way gold as a nod to the comic book Iron Man's second armor.

So I'm really tempted by this figure, and even though I hate the price hike, I'm slowly accepting the rising prices across the board. The thing that holds me back is the fact that it's a whole new type of figure and I'm worried about how the articulation will be affected by the new materials. Honestly the poses look less dynamic than its predecessors and I have to wonder if the new materials, coupled with a new design, is making the figure more difficult to articulate. The thigh barely comes up, no doubt because the rubber shorts are gone. Of course I sympathise with the fading shorts issue, but I wish they would have found a solution for the fading paint, not just get rid of the rubber. I wonder what else had to be compromised?

Anyway, I'm gonna wait on this one til I see some first hand reviews and pictures. If it means I miss out completely, so be it. But I'll definitely keep a close eye on it.
