I really wish the figure looked as good to me in hand as it does in some of these pics.

Yeah in hand he is a different beast. I think it has to do with lighting. Vader in Empire is all about the silhouette. The HT figure has it's flaws for sure and seeing every detail up close makes him lose some of his appeal. But I do think the silhouette can be achieved. I really wish I still had my really nice digital camera. iPhone pics suck for resolution.

Also once you find a pose you like I don't want to mess around with him to repose and switch out hands. Hand switching for me is much more difficult than the RO version I had. I do wish I could put him in a more dynamic pose to go with the base, but I am pleased with the hands resting on his belt pose. Just not the pose you think of when posing him on the base he comes with, making me want to get a standard Vader stand for him that came with previous releases.

Turn down the lights and take a few steps back is the key with this figure.:lol

And yeah, the base is really nicely done, but it's so scene specific that it is tricky to use for anything other than the hand outstretched pose.

That's actually kinda sad that this can't be enjoyed up close in good lighting. It does look good in dim light, but then why not just go with one of the previous versions of Vader if the silhouette is the same, which it pretty much is? I'm still debating in my head wheither to get this or ANH V2 for my second Vader figure. Already have ANH V1 (heavily modded).

If you are really itching for a second Vader I would get the ESB over ANH V2 as you already have an ANH V1 and I don’t think the V2 is that different (yours might be better that it’s modded). Or wait for the ROTJ Version.

Still not sure what to do, I don't really want the ROTJ version though, not a fan of that look. Well I'm gonna get the 1/4 scale version, then put the tunic over the chest armor on that. I got my Vader facing off against Luke, I want a Vader to go with Mythos Obi-Wan, not concerned with screen accuracy obviously.

EDIT: The pics on the previous page look great. Very nice.

Even the Rogue One would be a better option than V2 ANH.

I have SS with ANH HT Helmet for sixth scale and I’m waiting on my grail piece 1/4 Vader. Can’t wait.

I don't like how glossy Rogue One Vader's helmet is in pics I've seen of it, plus his tunic is overly pleated. Why do you think it's better than ANH V2? Seriously asking here.

His armor was pretty glossy in R1, and the tunic seems to have about the right amount of pleats for the film to me. I do agree that’s its too pleated for any OT film though, as well as his armor perhaps being a bit too glossy for any OT film.

I think the Rogue One has the best proportions of all the HT Vaders. Might be oversized relative to other figures, but the figure itself seems to have the presence and lacks the stout, bobble headed look. I really think it is the best HT Vader.

Also at least the RO Vader is a bit more different than what you have. V2 I don’t think is that different.

I never even watched Rogue One, don't care for anything outside of ANH and Empire honestly. I prefer his ANH look honestly it's my favorite. Wasn't too clean and corporate looking like in Empire amd Return. Rogue One Vader isn't appealing to me though. So yeah, I'm debating between this and ANH V2, not sure which one I'll end up getting yet.

ANH is my favorite look as well. I really like the tunic over the armor, it makes him look darker being that it covers up the grey of the armor. I also prefer the belt boxes closer to the buckle and the belt close to the chest box.

R1 is essentially just a shiny version of ANH.

If you're wanting a new one but like the AHN look, I think RO is a great figure. It's one of those I will regret selling to get TESB version. Not that I don't like this figure, but RO has such a shelf presence. I thought of him as the "Vader did his laundry" version. If you don't like the pleats, I recommend getting a tunic from V1 or V2. That's what I did and having the options was nice.
Here is RO with V2 tunic

Here is RO with V2 helmet and tunic. I did hate the pleats that's why I got the V2 tunic.

I had to laugh at that one. I noticed in your pics that his codpiece is massively oversized. His helmet looks overly glossy under the light bulbs but looks fine in the natural light in your second pic. Strange...

SilverStar17 I totally agree about his tunic over the armor and the belt boxes. To me, when his tunic is under his chest armor it reminds me of having your underwear over your pants. Just looks goofy to me. Wonder why they put it over his tunic in Empire and Return...

Yeah, it honestly is kinda sad. I think I like this helmet better overall than the ANH/RO sculpt, but neither sculpt really has that accuracy you'd expect after six high-end 1/6 Vaders. It's an incredibly frustrating thing.

The ANH/RO sculpt has some odd distortions to it while the ESB version looks better overall if you can get past the small nose/big mouth thing.

The thing I hate is how all the parts on pretty much all the 1/6 Vaders are about 10% oversized, so if you try to get a 13 1/8" to 13 1/4" Vader, you end up with the squat look with broad shoulders and bobble head. As I said before, I think it's about time to give up on the idea that a company can nail the helmet sculpt in 1/6 and also deliver a Vader that's close to 13" in height.

...

The second pic is the V2 helmet on the RO body. Sorry if I was confusing. Late and too much caffeine.

I just got a V2 helmet and tried on the RO body. The black tusk tubes on the V2 are too annoying so i'll keep the original RO helmet which is at least painted properly

Here's the RO with a V2 Cod Piece. Leaves some breathing room for the belt and chest box
