I think them making this is puzzling

From a marketing standpoint, I can see how it works in hyping up potential future entries like Electro or Green Goblin regardless of Rhino's small role in the film, especially since the lack of heavy hitters early on might entice people to buy this figure just to get a piece of anything ASM2-related. Still, I think it would be even more puzzling if they only make one between Electro/Goblin or neither at all.

I think if they had released an electro that lights up, or the goblin instead it would have generated about the same amount of hype but I get what you're saying

Oh no doubt, rather what I mean is, from the viewpoint of making a Rhino figure at all, it's best to release Rhino first since it could bait some folks into buying him since there's no other ASM2 villain so far.

That said, Electro would be an instant pre-order for me.

I like the mechanical and huge size of it. But as some of you mention it's hard to correlate this Rhino with the comic one.

Well we have no idea what the time frame is for these figures, but they're probably not revealed in chronological order (I doubt they were working on Rhino before Falcon)

Since Rhino is basically a mechanical vehicle, it was probably easier for them to produce than the human characters which have to be sculpted and go through likeness approval process

I wonder if Spidey and maybe a Rhino will be it for the movie. By this time I think they already had a Black Widow, Winter Soldier and Cap (Golden Age) up for order from TWS, but only Spidey at the moment.

Agreed. There an order and Rhino should've come after Electro and a Goblin.

I do wish we would have got Lizard from the first movie. I think they will save Green Goblin for the next movie though. Rhino is still enticing. On a side note, were Rhino and Green Goblin ever in the Sinister Six together? I don't recall that they were.

I'd be surprised if they did Goblin. I can see them doing Electro and maybe even throwing out a Peter figure but I can see them passing on Goblin for whatever reason. I'm sure they did Rhino first since they have a mech fetish.

I wish they would do this line some justice though. Throw us Electro, Goblin, Gwen and Peter!

Hiring Giamatti was their first mistake. I like him as an actor but as Rhino? No way.

Bingo, that design above would NEVER work with Giamatti. never. no way would he be able to look realistic with that on.

If you think about it, the fact that they hired Giamatti meant they needed to make a suit like the one in the movie, they needed to do something where he would look menacing in it,

I really doubt he would look believable in those first drafts of the suits.

I thought Giamatti was the weakest part of an already bad film. Way too cornball (Probably what Webb wanted/directed him do). I'm sure they have bigger plans for him in the Sinister Six film but it's going to be more of the same screamed lines with a horrible Russian accent.

Looking at that concept posted by Hologram AI, it would have been better if the producers went with something like that. Also they should have just changed Rhino's race to a black guy judging from that concept design. It would have seemed fitting for a brute character like Rhino.

All they have to do is have a light in the chest and shine that up through a translucent head. Same with light ps in the forearms whinging through the fingers.

Not as difficult as GL which had to light the chest up
