Yoda ears in Episode V are not symmetrical. I know its kind of hard to capture.

I still see much more Yoda on Medicom's portrait, though is far from perfect than in SS or HT.

I was hoping for PERS and rooted hair (both pipe dreams for this figure, I know) but I'm satisfied with the portrait. I think it'll look even better as a final product. Keeping my fingers crossed on the price.

Hot Toys tweaks sculpts before release. Maybe the headsculpt can become better for those who aren't satisfied.

IMO, the Hot Toys is superior to the SSC version.

>>>>>>This isn't light years ahead of Sideshow's. In fact, at first blush it is pretty comparable. I actually might still get it though. It would be nice to have another Yoda to display outside of my Yoda's hut display.

I think this looks really great, the closed eyes sculpt looks terrific! The display base looks really good too

Overall, I'm good with it despite Lantern being too big, pouch too small, head too fat.

BUT, they got the skin tone close to the Dagobah puppet, the outfit is fine, you can always scrape it shaggier and i really like the closed eye head for Jedi training or individual posing.

I would have hoped they included a swampy 1/6 X wing as an additional accessory.:lol

This all comes down to price for me. I like all the accessories he comes with but that's just gonna drive up the price on the smallest figure HT has produced. He's even smaller than Rocket. It does look really nice, and I like the closed eyes head, but like other have said the face sculpt is still off. Needs more life. The same problems as the SS, which I have, so this will be another waiting game for me. I hardly pre-order anything right away anymore since there's hardly any exclusives, or at least those worth paying the full price for. I'm looking forward to seeing some more ESB figures though!!

I am looking at the pics over and over. I think Sideshow's sculpt is very similar to this one. It may be even better than this one. Of course this one will have much better paint apps and the eyes will be painted much much better.

I am leaning towards waiting for the release and deciding then.

As others have said, it's all about the price. I think he looks pretty good but I'm not completely blown away. But I think they are going to use that second head sculpt to get the price close to that 200+ range.

Maybe someone can splice these together side by side and have a better comparison. I think the HT figure looks closer to the movie. I do hope they fix the roundness of his head though. I still think a modified/repainted Medicom looks much closer to the puppet than either of these two.

here go some comparison pics.

Have a look at the movie Yoda with Hot Toys and Sideshow proto pics.

We don't have the final Hot Toys Yoda yet, but here is the same comparison pic with my in hand Sideshow Yoda:

Wrinckles on the nose area and top of the head area look better on sideshow... I rather SSC sculpt so far.
Colour and clothes, hands, cane, look much better on HT.

The added "rooted" hair also helps find SSC better, IMHO.

Like most on here, I'll buy if the price is reasonable. I'm also eyeing TFA Chewie so gotta work with a budget here. I too wasn't blown away by the HS, but it does look better than the SSC, mainly due to the paint app I think.

it would cost more if they went with the pers system. I would looked good if they could have made a latex rubber face with the pers eye system in a 1/6 form

I think he looks great. Improved over SS for sure but why no rooted hair? I think it would work great here.
