Certainly not, depending on the writer.
"Fool me 1,000,000,000+ times over the centuries, shame on me"?
Then again, Loki is a GOD of mischief and deception...
hahaha
he's kinda a dunce in the movies, is what i am saying. naive at best.
True. He's fairly gullible in the films so far.
That was in the Avengers, not Thor. It's just to keep his mouth shut.
So there isn't a valid reason then. I knew that happened in Avengers.
What I was referring to is maybe they mentioned it in the Thor film, even though his mouth was covered in the end of Avengers.
It just seemed random all of a sudden. I'm surprised they didn't give a reasonable explanation for something that was clearly noticable.
I personally didn't like the muzzle. He'd already been defeated, and it seemed unnecessarily humiliating to me. I don't think there's anything he could have said to get out of the situation at that point. I assumed it was a reference to the original mythology where Loki has his lips sewn shut as a punishment. So there isn't a valid reason then. I knew that happened in Avengers.

Did anyone else notice the slight shift away from Kenneth Brannagh's 'ancient aliens that use technology so advanced it looks like magic' in "THOR", to..."The Avengers", where they are referring to both LOKI and THOR as actual gods?
Widow's dialogue about how the Asgardians essentially are gods.
Loki refers to Odin having conjured a lot of 'dark magic' to bring Thor back to Earth after the Rainbow Bridge (Effinghell?) was smashed. It may look like magic to younger races, but surely the Asgardians would not refer to it as such between themselves?
Fury's statement about avoiding disagreement with the god that wanted to return the Tesseract back to Asgard.
This was posted over in the Avengers movie thread, lots of deleted scenes from The Avengers. I watched them all, and thought the ones with Loki and The Other were the most interesting, so posting them again here:

There was no way he was going to talk his way out of that situation. He gets under people's skin, but there hasn't been one time in the films that he truely has manipulated an enemy into doing his bidding.
Also, he is an alien and not a god, so he can't cast spells.
I always assumed that they just put the muzzle on because his attempts to manipulate people are annoying, and they didn't want him to ruin their good moods.
