Thinking about getting him from my local shop. Is he worth it? I'm on the fence, and I know Spidey may be done again within the year. This one just looks so good.

Get him. If the eventual successor is that much better you can upgrade, but this one is an awesome Spidey with a classic vibe. Another one is probably a couple of years away and we don't know what it will look like.

It's very much worth it. Have you seen it out of the box? It's amazing. I'd put it in top five as far as looking like its comic inspiration. It looks like it walked right out of a comic book. Very well done.

Whatever design they go for next may be great, but it will be different I'm sure and hard to top this one.

If you want the most classic comic book spidey this is it! If he's at a local shop, go check him out for defects and go from there. The next one may not be as classic as this one, if that's what you want.

Exactly. I got this figure cause it is a great Spiderman. As for the movie... I didn't hate it but I didn't love it. It was bad but not Fantastic Four bad......but then again is anything Fantastic Four bad?

I don't care about any of the extras (backpack, hat, etc...) that come with regular Spider-Man let alone a plutonium canister. The less reminders of the movie the better IMO. The only reason I bought the figure is for Spidey himself.

Definitely worth it. I bought it for the same reasons everyone else is saying, the look was classic Spiderman. I still can't bring myself to watch the movie but if you want a Spidey in your collection this is it.

I actually like this one the best of all my spideys. But I'd never sell any of them.

Only been collecting HT's a few months but in that span I have been pretty satisfied with my previous 4 figures. With the purchase of the Amazing Spider-Man 2 can honestly say I did not experience the same satisfaction.

After researching the 3 or 4 Spider figs Hot Toys had released to date, concluded this figure to be the best overall representation of Spiderman so far. Overwhelming positive reviews on articulation, suit quality and comic lIke eyes. With a few gripes about foot size and lack of worthy accessories.

Was able to find this figure for what is probably an ok going rate for this guy anyways. The shipper had never been previously openned, so the dealer was nice enough to open it prior to my purchasing it. After an inspection the figure looked pretty good with exception of the stitches at the center of the forehead was a bit off, ever so slightly. I would gladly take it knowing everything else looked good.

Less the a couple days later one of the dreaded black stains appeared on his head. It's not hugely obvious but it's seriously all I see now. Black stain aside I am not feeling this fig. I absolutely have buyers remorse, i realize i pulled the trigger on this piece out of fear of not being able not find this Spidey less the 300+ in the near future.

Maybe I need put him in an inspirational spiderman pose to feel the love with this one.

What specifically don't you like?

If you go slowly and carefully, you can get this figure into amazing poses. The suit will crease but any time I want to return to neutral I give it a light steaming and it returns to shape.

Good to know the suit is durable enough to pose without permanent damage to it.

The figure itself is just a bit underwhelming in hand, it doesnt pop in the detolf loke othere figures. I do like the suit overall and the eyes are great but would like to make new webs for it, the webs it came with are too short.

Any ideas on making custom webs? Would heavy fishing line with a tiny white wire wrapped around the outside work? Anybody try making them?

I had mine in a couple of different acrobatic poses for months; gentle steaming reverted the deep creases and stretching back to neutral.

Just do move slowly; I own one and had two copies in-hand; the stitching and construction I inspected were durable and well-made, but the suit is tight so caution is called for.

I find that the colour alone makes it pop plenty, but I have an all white background/shelf with relatively bright LED lighting.

I don't display it with webbing, maybe someone else can offer opinions and info on that.

That's very unfortunate Cota. I have all the spiderman figures made to date and I love this one the most because of its pose-ability and design.

Comparing this figure to the previous ones, based on release date, the Spider-Man 3 r&b figure is too thick as far as proportions.

It suffers from thick thighs that look as big as Captain Americas went stood next to him. ASM2 has much better"spidey" proportions. This is one thing about that release I could never get passed but the overall figure made it worth keeping. It really was a great representation of the costume but the problems had to be overlooked. The chicken neck is one such problem. Whenever posing the head the neck fabric always looked baggy so the ASM2 figure improved on that as well.

It also suffered from terribly weak ankles. It has a hard time standing without the aid of a stand. Also the ankles themselves are also prone to break while posing. The ankle pegs pop out and if you aren't careful you can break the ankles trying to pop the pegs back in. The ASM2 figure also improves on this problem.

The Black Suit Spider-Man 3 figure improved on the existing technology of the first release by making stronger ankles that were much easier to pose but still could fall over eventually if not aided by a stand. The chicken neck was eliminated by the implementation of the removable head. Nicely done but many people complained that the two releases didn't match and would have much preferred a single piece of material covering both the head and neck. I thought it was brilliant so you could swap the heads easily but it wasn't so easy.

Popping the head off was easier said than done. Most times you'd pop the neck right off and was a pain in the a$$ to get back in. You see they gave the neck fabric an elastic band making it form fitting to the base of the neck and the top to eliminate the saggy material.

There was also the problem of the wrist pegs. The first release was very difficult to change the hands. The plastic they used for the hands was too hard and the plastic for the red pegs was too brittle. You had to heat up the hands every time if you wanted to swap them out. Many broken pegs later was not as much fun. The ASM2 figure improved on this as well while incorporating the fabric from the sleeve right into the hand. Much better idea. The old one showed the seams under the suit.

The ASM figure was good but had its own issues. They introduced a new head neck design to swap out which eliminated the chicken neck but many collectors still were not happy with it. The articulation suffered because the neck itself could not move. Just the head which limited poses but still was an inventive idea and this meant you could have a reveal head as well.

It also improved on the ankle articulation with much stronger ankles and was able to keep poses without springing back as much like the two previous releases.

So over all this release is the culmination of all the previous failures corrected. In my opinion the best spidey so far. In proportions, articulation, suit design, and seamless joints.

Sounds like maybe my limited experience with HT's didn't allow me to appreciate all the newly improved aspects of this Spidey. I can appreciate him a little more now knowing Hot Toys history with previous web slingers.
