Awesome, I absolutely am picking up this guy. To me this is the definitive movie Wolverine figure. No he didn't do too much in the suit but it is SO "Days of Future Past." That's all I think about when I look at this figure. Leather jacket, belt buckle, jeans, all that could be either X1, X2, or *shudder* Origins. Even his 70's look is just a slight variation on his previous street clothes (with unappealing bone claws to boot.) But I've liked the design of this costume since I saw the first promo images and all I think about when I see him in it is the greatest X-Men movie ever made. $250 sucks but really its only about $20-$30 more than I was expecting. I really thought that we'd never see a single figure from this movie. Bring him on!

I wouldn't put it pass SS to tack on more $ on this Wolverine, to justify the price they will charge for theirs.

The sculpt is gorgeous...and the outfit looks really well done (no surprise there). But as others have commented, it would've been cool if HT offered up his "civie" 70's duds, especially since he spent most of the movie in them. This outfit is cool, but other than descending the plane ramp, standing around or laying flat on his back, he didn't "do" much in it. It's cool to see the gallery with some actions poses in it, even if we never see him in action in the movie.
Having said that, I'm in....while I really like my "The Wolverine" figure, this one looks pretty damned good...

Not to get OT but I just read on Sideshow's site about Sideshow being "the official distributor of Hot Toys figures in the US, North and South America, Europe, Australia and throughout most Asian countries."

I didn't realize that since I've just recently gotten relatively "heavy" into Hot Toys. :lol

Interesting.

It's possible. Remember official distributor doesn't mean exclusive. That's why there's other shops importing Hot Toys but only Sideshow gets the exclusives.

For some reason this figure is expensive. Even the pre-order price in Hong Kong is expensive. It's shocking considering how less this figure come with and cost more than The Wolverine figure which came with a good amount of accessories.

Soft voices inside my mind saying that this might be another tactic from Marvel. Over charging HT so that X-men figures won't sell. Can they actually do that?

This is my plan, hitfigure body, clone head, parted suit, x3 glove claws which i already have. In theory should save a fortune depending how much the parted outfit will be. Or get the wife to preorder the sod as a present. That price though :-S just weird

It's expensive because the license for xmen is expensive and complicated. Not only does hot toys have to pay either an upfront fee or percentage of sales to marvel, but also to fox and the actor. On a normal license that's usually just one or two of those (studio or property holder or both). So at best this has one extra party to pay, at worst two. And that extra party and means extra man hours negotiating the contract, lawyer fees and all that. That cost has to be off set.

Add to that they can not count on tooling reuse and multiple figures (ie iron man) and it's not a surprise that they cut pack ins and kept a high price point.

I get the figure is way overpriced but I'll own it. Dunno why it is so expensive but it's likely Mags, Prof and anyone else made will be around the same price or higher. Whatever reason(s) a plain ole Logan cost so much means a plain whoever will be expensive as well. No reason to believe otherwise. Wolverine doesn't sell well, it may impact whether we see anyone else. Everyone clamoring for other characters best be willing to pay out the ying yang for them as well IMO.

:goodpost: :exactly:

that must be wrong. simply toys have the right of distributor in SE asia.

Well it does say; "the official distributor of Hot Toys figures in the US, North and South America, Europe, Australia and throughout most Asian countries."

Good post. There are so many variables with the license and to say that Sideshow is solely responsible for the price is unwarranted.

Its because Wolverine sells merchandise. I love the other characters too but I don't know how many of them would be big sellers in all honesty. Magneto would probably do well and possibly Professor X.

Im not convinced they have the whole license. I think they have the Wolvie license but thats it.
