so nobody gonna order this figure at the moment?

As I said in a previous post my experience with SS customer service has been positive. I just don't feel that a customer should be stuck going through with an order if the finished product is radically different than the prototype. I am fairly new to this hobby and its very casual to me. While I'm not a rich guy I have a great job and can afford this stuff so NRD won't stop me from buying something I want, I just don't like it for the aforementioned reasons. I put up with a lot of things that I hate as a means to an end. Doesn't mean I have to like it. And we don't have to agree on this topic. Hope you and everyone else here has a Merry Christmas. And I hope this figure turns out great because I preordered it with NRD

Radically different from Prototype is a very subjective thing in this hobby, for every legitimate complaint theres a hundred complaining about a sculpt being "soft", orthe paint not having the right "hue" or "shade"... I mean these are mass produced figures, they arent going to meet every single persons demand. and regardless if you arent happy with the final product SS will work with you so your point is moot

Do you not think that the price justifies at least some sort of consistency between the prototype and the production figure?

well half the protoypes are garbage any way so in that regard id say no. Look at WS for example, look at his arm and the knife hand, Prototype is obviously painted resin, would that have been acceptable if they stuck to the prototype? or the MOS Superman...

People need to realize prototypes are simply that, a prototype, and every single one is marked at the botom with a "subject to Changes" thats for better or worse, dont like it, dont buy. nothing in the world is perfect, thats just something people need to get over.

as for the mk 43, I hate the shoulders, they bother me, im hoping they change them but they may not, will I still buy? probably

This is exactly what I am planning on doing! Really liking this suit; with the colour change it really looks like the Bleeding Edge suit (least to me).

Really looking forward to this next year along with the Mark III, along with Silver Centurion and Python (as a stand in for the black and gold comic armor) it could show a nice evolution of Iron Man... that is unless I pick up enough of the other Avengers to build a proper display (space being an issue there).

Bah, stuff it... just put the pre-order in for the III, in case it sells out before my next lot of RP come through... Guess that means my entire Hot Toy Collection will be 2 Arnies, and 2 Iron Mans by this time next year... unless the MkVII gets a diecast release, lol...

This whole NRD talk is boring as ****.

But your post is so stimulating. And a discussion about NRD is so dull when compared to the standard "i like/hate this figure". If you are looking for excitement on a hot toys forum you may need to get a life.

It's funny...I picked up a Mark VII and was initially very happy with it, but within weeks the proportions, particularly the arms...really started bugging me; they just set me off; this does't usually happen with a carefully considered purchase.

I managed to recoup my cash easily on the re-sale, but now I don't think I'll buy an IM unless it's noticeably bulky enough to fit someone inside...so I'm watching this thread and a couple of others very closely to see how the new releases pan out, because I only want one IM figure but only if it's proportional. This one doesn't look bad but unsure...

This one also looks beautiful in general, but I prefer a duller red, and so far the extremely tech-y, busy look isn't my favourite...but time will tell.

I'll hand it to HT though...all the armours look pretty sexy.

If you are waiting for an iron man that looks like it has a full size person in it...you will never get one. Except something like igor or Hulkbuster. And those are not really feasable as real either for reasons I won't get into unless someone cares.

There is a reason why the suit is digital in the movies. It won't work as practical suit as iron man is designed. If you don't think I'm right, look at something like a space suit. Look at the limited shoulder joints and what not. And it's mostly cloth. A suit with hydros and made of metal that stops projectiles and thor and ultron and guns would need to be a lot thicker. It would look much closer to the aliens power loader then this iron man design or the comic design.

Oh yeah...no argument there. I'm willing to suspend my disbelief and accept the "space magic" that Iron Man is...my issue is a threshold for suspension of disbelief in terms of things like elbow joints and limb thickness, etc.

If I find an IM design that I like that appears proportionately like say...a Soldier Story body wearing Marmit Stormtrooper armour...I'd be happy, since that's a "guy-in-a-suit" vs. a "cyborg".

This was what killed it for me. I more or less know what a 1/6 body in armour should look like, and to my eyes the Mark VII just missed it in a couple of spots.

I understand that the IM film designers didn't want to go for "guy-in-a-suit" for the look, but his on-screen appearance remains bulkier than many HT iterations of the character. Silver Centurion looks thicker, but it's not my favourite design.

My current hope for the aforementioned threshold is the upcoming Diecast Mark III...I do love Hulkbuster but that's something different again and carries other potential issues. I get that it's a crazy comic book character but I just want the aesthetics to line up for me.

Some people just want to argue lol...

I just wish there were more rockets/missile/gun interchangeable pieces that could be implemented in this armor and new armors, like on some older suits. But that's on the design, not HT

It is understandable what you are looking for, we need to have some bend for reality as they are toys trying to capture "realism" which is the big draw for collecting these type of figures at all.

If you are really looking for a iron man figure that could theoretically fit a person in it you should look at the Silver Centurion. In my opinion it is big to a fault. The top of the body is just so bulky it makes the suit lose the slick body and nimbleness the other armors visually have. While the SC armor is a very nice looking armor I would not want the rest of the suits to look this bulky.

Best looking armor for me proportionally is the 42, I think the 43 with dull paint will be the best release for the prominent red representative iron man.

Do you mean VII's or VI's

I have two VI's and one BD VII that I would never ever sell, especially after selling my Gun Metal MK3 :ohbfrank:

Sorry yeah VII's. Had regular and BD. It's the BD I miss most. Made good money on it through. Same with MK I. But still sad.

For me, it's a discussion. That's what a forum is for, right? Or is it just for guessing about prices and snappy (or more accurately un funny) one liners? Maybe I'm wrong. Just figured the whole point was discussing things.

I certainly discuss things..., I'm definitely guilty of going off topic. :) I do try & steer the discussion back to whatever a thread is about but have also been known to steer it off course again too, whatever pops in my head to say has to come out I guess. lol ;)

Some people just don't like hearing dissenting opinions. Don'y worry about it, your posts were fine and actually contributed to the conversation, even if it was a conversation that some didn't want to have.

Thanks. Appreciate it.

And, just to point it out, I didn't start the NRD convo. Was not even the first to reply.

I really want the regular...... where as most want the BD :lol

I'm with you. I don't like BD really. I see it like those store bought jeans with holes in them. Lol

I want my high end figures to be perfect. Then have the extra parts be BD. But not a BD with more damaged parts. I like how the Vi is. You have both options, clean or BD.
