They did the ankle ball blue becuase when it was attempted gold it stood out just as much. They thought it would look better where it appears dark and not gold.

As for the hip joints...you xeno said they show on the sitting pose but I didn't notice them. As for the knees...this is a figure that they anticipated would be moved between standing and sitting and full knee range both often and for long periods of time. So they wanted a very sturdy joint. Becuase of where it is in relation to the stand they didn't think covering it would be smart. And having a rubber body was a no go. There's not really a great way to do it unless they went hulk and did a swap out lower torso. Which was looked at but that adds 75-150 to the price and with the throne also makes the box way to big. There isn't a perfect way to do it.

How do you know they looked at these? I don't care about the argument as I agree with your points, if anyone seriously compares this to a $20 toysrus figure then their either an idiot or trolling.

Just curious how you know they tried gold joints and looked at doing a swap out lower torso?

Anyone who thinks a Marvel Select figure looks as good as a HT needs their head examined. It's like comparing a Yugo to a Porsche and saying the are the same thing because they both have door hinges.

And I will say, that is a great Marvel Select. One of the best releases they made.

I can see where Skull is coming from. They're big, exposed elbow joints that are neither hidden by clothing nor are they rubber like Hulk, Thor or John Matrix.

But I'm not sure what HT could've done differently. Is Thanos wearing a bodysuit underneath his armor?

:dunno

They could have done an undersuit of some sort to hide the joints, but that would have ran the risk of tearing or sliding around because of the armor plates.

Like IABRH said, maybe they'll have a switch out torso for the IW version.

I think the solution would have been to do and under suit over a articulated body than added the armor over it sort of like how they did DOFP Wolverine.

The under suit is clearly sculpted in the area's I poorly point out in yellow:lol

This would have looked much classier and the joints wouldn't have been such a eye sore.

I just want mine so I can stop pining over other peoples :impatient:

I guess since we're nit picking I'll point out my single nit pick from this figure.....his finger nails are the same colour as his fingers, some slight variation would have been nice.

First of all both are constructed in the same manner, fully plastic figures with huge joints exposed, second they both represent different styles, one movie, one comic. One is bigger than the other and has a better paint job, not much else aside from that so before you call someone and idiot see my last point below!!

So you think the joints look great huh, who needs their head examined??

So you think the nails are the problem, yet this doesn't bother you:slap

I know some of the people at hot toys. Both in the design/paint/production and the management. After seeing some questions and complaints and having a few of my own on this and a few other things I asked. Even if you don't believe me, which is fine, it's easy enough to get an educated guess. Look at Aou hulk. Two versions. One has a rotocast swap body and that's the difference. The price is 100. The box then has to get bigger and that adds to costs. They have to have two seperate packaging designed which adds costs and time. The production cost for that packaging is no longer even across the release but split. And given the added cost of the version that would be deluxe it would sell less, based on past sales...so the offset of that is even less.

The ankles thing I'll see if I can get them to send me pics of the test images.

And what exactly would you do to fix these issues? If you have articulation you have joints. Don't like it buy statues. The paint is not the same. The plastic is not the same. The size which you just toss out like it doesn't matter, is a MASSIVE difference in how these cost. Even if everything was done the same like you said...ehich it's not, the size alone makes your 20 dollar toy comment silly. The batteries cost nearly that. Even cheap ones. The box costs more. Th stand costs more. If you buy an unpainted recast head from some putz on eBay it costs more. A cape costs more. But sure. A 15 inch tall figure, that's not rotocast, that's hand painted, that's in a 22 inch tall led lighted throne should be compared to 20 dollar figures.

That's cool, do you know if they ever considered a release without the throne?

Maybe a light, black dry brush on the elbow joint will make it not stand out so much and maybe make it look more like the black mesh on the armor. When I receive mine I'll give it a shot.

It was talked about...but not ever really on the table. They want to make sure it best reflected what we have seen on screen so far...and he's never been seen really not in the throne..and to make sure this release was unique from an future releases. So it was never really going to happen. And offering him without it doesn't help them becuase of the cost spread like I talked about before. That means two packaging designs...the cost of the throne is not divide across the entire run..stuff like that.

When people complain about joints on a FIGURE it makes me wonder what they expect. If you're going to whine about joints on an articulated fig, just stick with statues.

As for adding the armor over the body...like its seperat pieces then glued in place...that's just not going to work. Doing one or two pieces like on dofp wolverine is one thing. Glueing 40 pieces of armor over some mesh on a figure this big is not going to happen. The way it was done is the only way it could be done without triple the cost. Think about how much time alone it would add to hand glue all those pieces in place. Never gonna work.

I think the same thing. The only reason they are hidden on some figures is the rubber body...which would not hold up long term when it's posed in the throne over and over(plus wouldn't work anyway becuase of the overall design of the figure and armor) and then clothing like with the human figures.

Thanos is pretty unique in design so far. He doesn't have a cloth costume to hide the joints. All of hot toys figures have visible joints. Some are just hidden under clothing. The only one that comes close to hiding them all (without cloth) is Leonidas really. And it's not a figure I would want to bend at extreme angles.

As for the 20 dollar comment everyone is hell bent on referring to I clarified my statement here

As for what I suggested its here

So please read before blasting off at the mouth

As for the joints, I can accept them if done right as they are action figures after all, however these are not done right, they made no attempt to make this figure look like the high-end action figure hot toys are known for making, if they followed my suggestion it would have been the correct way to make this figure look good and pose well to, that's my opinion, feel free to disagree if you like.

You don't seem to be reasonable, I don't see how it wouldn't work, slip a body suit over and articulated figure, something they do every day, pop on the boots, pop on the armor sections via a tab, no glue required, slip over the armored shoulder piece and pop on the head and hands, how is that out of the scope of the norm, they have done amazing figures that are way more complicated than that, predators come to mind which are constructed in a similar fashion:lecture

I think a DARKSEID figure will be excellent figure 4 a xtra throne i'm thinking will display nicely if i can snag a xtra throne.
