Watching Joe's review right now, lots and lots of closeups, as usual. :lol

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like the armrests are adjustable. The farther the arms swing out, the worse it looks, IMO. And the video reaffirms how clumsy the elbow joints are. It's up to the individual collector, though, if it's something that can't be tolerated.

I know I'm a set up forget admire pose collector pretty much statue's in my 1/6 collection and only change up once in a while. Thanos will pretty much sitting on throne or standing tall among the rest. I think most of us knew when revealed wanted this figure and able to pay up 4 him. Just like hulkbuster or another hi priced release there's gonna be negative and postive side's to the release's. I'm o.k with end release ankle joints could have been done better or throne lowered a smidge. I do wish a plug in port to light up the throne would have been nice along with lame switches on throne placed more user friendly.

There's a nice XM Thanos with no visible joints for a meager price of $1200.

That's actually shipped. MSRP was/is way less than that. And that's a quality statue. Perfect, actually.

And people are actually paying close to $500 to have this Mattel like toy early from HK, so not that much of a difference.

I agree with you Skull, the purple joints look really toyish on this piece. This whole thing sticks out like a sore thumb. NECA does a much better job at hiding their articulated joints than what Hot Toys did here. This Thanos doesn't really strike me as a high-end, $400+ piece. Back in the day, Toy Biz would go as far as sculpting unique joints for their elbows. These purple Thanos joints? Toy Biz in the early 2000s would have sculpted and painted the chain mail effect like they did with so many of their superhero figures (Spider-Man's webbing, musculature and elbows come to mind).

Nice paint apps and neat chair though.

But I'd gladly pay that much over this mattel legends doll any day of the week.

Thanks very much, that's how I see it but as it stands I'm simply going to back out of this thread, its got a little volatile of which I may be partly to blame. I made a bold and honest statement from my point of view and others did the same, I stated I don't like the execution on this particular figure and have been called an idiot, told I need to have my head examined and so on.

That said I'm not getting the figure and have no further purpose here in this thread...

Some people just devote themselves to convincing others a figure is no good. There are plenty of figures I have no interest in, and I stay out of their threads.

You mean a toy actually looks like a toy? Well dang, color me shocked. The difference between the two images you posted is articulation. Plain and simple. If you like statues them stick to statues. Bitching that a figure with articulation has joints and a 1200 dollar statue doesn't is stupid. It's great the statue looks good. Fan fricken tastic. It's costs nearly 3 times as much. And outside of the joints isn't any better. The face on the hot toys is as good or better. The armor looks more like armor and not a nighty in the hot toys. And I prefer being able to go from standing to sitting.

The statue doesn't look any more realistic. It looks just as artificial as a toy. No ones waking into your display area and looking at either of these and thinking..."hmm how did you shrink thanos and get him to stand still in your display?"... So yes, shocker, the 1/6 scale figure isn't 100% realistic. But neither is the statue. So what diffenrece does that make?

No problem man, I think you are right on.

Don't let them get to you, you weren't out of order. We're on a public forum, you have your opinion and you articulated it. You're not an idiot. We've seen Hot Toys make better figures compared to this Thanos figure, I understood the angle you were coming to it at.

If this where the case Fran would not even be on the site. He admits to not collecting, hates everything and still posts in every thread. I wonder if he just randomly goes to fan (and yes, this is a FAN forum not a hater forum) forums if everything and bashes everything else he doesn't buy or if it's just here.

Had you actually said it like you did here in this post our wouldn't have gotten the response you did. You said you could buy equal toys at toys r us for 20 bucks. When the box would cost more then that. It wasn't an "honest" statement any more then me saying it's Wednesday becuase I want it to be so on w Sunday is honest. Had you simply said I won't buy becuase I just can't see paying X amount for this figure becuase I dislike the joints you wouldn't have gotten the response you did. At least not from me. As for being called an names and all that...you pretty much did the same thing to anyone that bought the figure.

As for neca doing a better job. sorry but that's just wrong as well.

He ever insulted anybody like you did, and that other guy.

But since you defend everything HT ever does, you seem to be able to get away with it as mods seem to like that for some reason. You keep calling people "idiots" because they don't agree with you or God forbid if they have a negative opinion on whatever your idol Howard Chan does.

You love pretending to be this "know it all" in the world of doll collecting (LOL) and you always try to make people see what you see at any cost. Being rude, etc etc. I personally don't mind you one bit, I'd never block you since your nonsense never fails to amuse me ( and many others, believe it or not).

So keep going, call people idiots and spread your doll knowledge around. 1% of people seem to care anyway.

Well it seems some people take others opinions on collectables personally, as if I attacked them directly. I had wanted to get this figure when it was announced, I knew the Thanos story and didn't have to wiki it, I'm an avid collector of hot toys and usually defend their products from unjust hate. Yet I am being portrait as some sort of idiot troll, it can't be that my point has merit and is based on being a collector for over 20 years, it you don't agree with my opinion that's fine, but this is ridiculous behavior.

Not on their 1/4 figures, you're wrong.

Their $90-$100 1/4 Arkham Knight Batman and Penguin smoke this Thanos with their sculpt, paint, hidden joints and value. Look how they took the time to sculpt the video game Batman's inner elbow joints with the folds of the material.

Hot Toys didn't even bother. If you want to see a figure with ingenious articulation design implemented into a great, aesthetically pleasing sculpt by them, buy one of their Robocop figures. That's how it's done. This Thanos is lazy and the joints look ugly for a $400 toy, pure and simple.

Calling it garbage on something people paid a fair bit of money for is a shot at those that did buy it. Your essentially calling them/me/us stupid for spending our money on something you could get for 20 dollars. Your also calling someone's work garbage.

Great so when he's standing up straight with a cape to hide his knees and his arms in a pose you can't see his joints. Pull the cape up, turn him around and then show me the knees. Or bend them. I know it has a visible joint just like thanos when that's done. Same with the arms. They are hidden when in certain positions. No different then hot toys.

And that arm joint is WAY different. Except ya know, it's not.its painted black that's what's different or it's covered.

I have to wonder if the people saying this is a waste are the same ones that bought 30 IM3 armors.

I think THAT is foolish and yet I don't go in those threads questioning peoples' taste.
