Had you actually said it like you did here in this post our wouldn't have gotten the response you did. You said you could buy equal toys at toys r us for 20 bucks. When the box would cost more then that. It wasn't an "honest" statement any more then me saying it's Wednesday becuase I want it to be so on w Sunday is honest. Had you simply said I won't buy becuase I just can't see paying X amount for this figure becuase I dislike the joints you wouldn't have gotten the response you did. At least not from me. As for being called an names and all that...you pretty much did the same thing to anyone that bought the figure.

As for neca doing a better job. sorry but that's just wrong as well.

I see you think you are some sort of authority on collecting yet you haven't correctly responded to any of my points and continue to make false statement about what I said, I already responded to the 20 dollar point several pages ago and pointed it out to you yet again just a page or so back, still you want to avoid the truth and miss represent what I said over and over. I never bought up the price aside from saying it didn't look like a high-end figure so again you miss represent what I said.

Most laughable is the fact that you say if I don't like the way the figure was executed that I'm calling everyone who bought the figure names, dude you have serious issues:cuckoo:

If you want to talk about figures that have terrible joints, go look at all the Figuarts. Those things are hideous.

No, assistant to the HT CEO.

But I'd gladly pay that much over this mattel legends doll any day of the week.

Compare this:

Just plain Hasbro/Mattel like.

Well some people had a similar complaint on the HT Winter Soldier metal arm elbow joint, but that figure is clearly not "Hasbro/Mattel" like...its is pure awesomeness! I'm not arguing or anything like, but I just want to point out that with these figures you are going to get that joint sometimes if you want articulation. Now if Thanos didn't have the suit on and it was just his skin, like the HT Hulk, I'm sure we wouldn't be seeing the elbow joint. IMO, could it be better?? Sure. Does it make it not worth buying because of the elbow joint? That just depends on the collector. Different people like different characters and figures. What makes this one $400+ is the throne that is coming with him...otherwise he would be in the HT Hulk price range of $275. At the end of the day it comes down to this...if you don't like it...don't buy it. If you do like it...buy it. I own the HT Winter Soldier and the metal arm elbow joint is not an issue for me. It is an awesome fig!

The very existence of this figure seems to anger people.

I think its pretty cool myself...would be cooler with the Infinity Gauntlet, but he didn't have it in GOG, so wouldn't make sense to include it. That throne is cool! I doubt we will get the throne with the Infinity War version 2-3 yrs down the road.

Great so when he's standing up straight with a cape to hide his knees and his arms in a pose you can't see his joints. Pull the cape up, turn him around and then show me the knees. Or bend them. I know it has a visible joint just like thanos when that's done. Same with the arms. They are hidden when in certain positions. No different then hot toys.

Look at his elbows son, then compare them to Thanos' purple rectangles. You know I'm right. NECA went above and beyond making sure they sculpted everything and did their best to hide the joints and implement them in such a way that it would look classy and blend in with the armor.

Hot Toys? They did no such thing. They just left them as they are and didn't even bother to sculpt unique joint connectors, causing it to look toyish and low end. This isn't a crappy True Type body that can get away with exposed joints in the arms, this is a hand crafted, beautifully sculpted armored creature where aesthetics is everything, for $400. Those joints break up and destroy that nice, grey chain mail/mesh they sculpted and you know it. Stop defending every little decision this company makes, you come off as an obnoxious shill.

WoW lots of hate lol :lol but without forum's like this pushing the hobby 1/6 to perfection and custom's we wouldnt have this hobby. I see the points about the joints and with each gripe helps improve to next level of art of 1/6. I dont care who bashes what, it's usually good to listen up on topic if buying the figure. Like the one reviewer said it's a brand new mold n body n figure. I expect hot toys to improve on next go round.

ha ha but do make good point's get me think about canceling to buy other stuff and possibly wait 4 next release.

Son? Sure dad. I looked. I saw. I was shocked that I found...a joint. Holy cow bat fans! The neca joint is less visible becuase it's a dark armor. If it wasn't it wouldn't be any more "hidden". Hot toys didn't try? So they ran down to Walmart and bought a thanos arm? They sculpted it, same as neca. No more or less effort. And sure...above and beyond. Totally hidden. I couldn't even see them on their 1/4 batman line at all. Except, you can.

I'm making false statements? And I didn't address? What are you reading? You said it was "garbage" yes? It you could buy equal at tru for 20 bucks? But IM making false statements and an authority and crazy.

I didn't say I was an authority on collecting. I just said you where making over blown and silly claims.

That's the Adam West Batman . . . Your point? You edited your post like 3-4 times, you don't even know what your argument is. :lol

I'm being fair here, I found a nice, armored figure just like this Thanos as a comparison which was the Arkham Batman. This is what can be done at a lower price point, illustrating what Hot Toys could have done. You? You pick shirtless video game figures and their Adam West Batman. How about NECA Gordon Freeman? He has chainmail mesh just like this Thanos with the same articulation . . . and looks absolutely wonderful.

Nobody here is even saying that Hot Toys is bad, just that this Thanos isn't up to par with figures that are out there. They've done way better figures than this Thanos, just like NECA has done better figures than that West (like their recent Reeve, Arkham Batman and Penguin for example. Thanos arms look cheap like a low end toy, the end.

I edited it by adding pictures. To show the "hidden" joint thing is complete crap.

And the Adam west post...not edited. But nice try deflecting. Make it about me instead of your point. It's a good way to take the attention away from this very noticeable joints.

Ok, again for the third time on the 20 dollar bit, please stop its getting old

You never addressed this

Question now is what are you reading?

Also can we agree to disagree, this is getting very tiresome, I wanted to back out of this thread as I stated before so stop dragging me back into this diaper rash discussion!!

You're nuts. :lol

Point is, Hot Toys' could have easily found a solution to those ugly, purple joints as well as the joints in the back of the knees, feet, etc. I'll take the word that it looks bad from someone that has it in hand and made a review about it as opposed to a shill that defends every aspect of a company that they don't even work for, 24/7. The joints are ugly and it's lazy. It breaks up the nice mesh chain mail and detail on Thanos' arms. Anyone that collects cheapo low end figures from Hasbro to Mattel would say the same. It looks cheap and unfinished, it is cheap and unfinished.

Last example. Toy Biz, 2004. Their 18" Spider-Man. They took the time to sculpt every web, every honeycoumb pattern on their interior elbow joints as well as paint them red, blue and silver for a mass produced $40 toy. This was over a decade ago and that toy still holds up. Hot Toys couldn't achieve the same standard in 2015 for $400? Give me a break.

When it's not black and has a cape covering it the joints are pretty similar. Becuase there's NO good way to hide joints without covering them in some form. The ark batman the 66 batman the 89 batman all have the same joint styles as the mos superman. But batman is dark mostly black so it doesn't contrast as much. I don't have an issue with the neca joints or the hot toys joints. I prefer the rubber type torso like Leonidas or those but you can't do that with every figure. So you either deal with them or buy statues.

That Superman is terrible, one of NECA's worst figures. The joints are just as ugly on that figure as they are on the West or Thanos arms himself. NECA went about that figure wrong, just like West. No doubt about that. This ISN'T a Hot Toys vs. NECA though, this is just showing examples of how they could have made Thanos better and less toy like. How about the recent 1/4 NECA Christopher Reeve Superman, which is super articulated at the neck, head, shoulders, abs, waist, elbows, wrists, hands, hips, knees, thighs, boots, and feet?

More articulated than Thanos, looks better than Thanos. $90-$100 just like that magnificent Arkham Knight Batman that puts the itty, bitty, $400 "high end" figure with admittingly fancy paint applications, to shame. Can you see his elbow joints? Yup, but the way their sculptors implemented the points of articulation was clever and aesthetically pleasing. It looks good, it poses well. They took their time to blend in everything from the flawless knees, to the hidden joints in the waist. A nice balance.

Missed these.

Well it seems some people take others opinions on collectables personally, as if I attacked them directly. I had wanted to get this figure when it was announced, I knew the Thanos story and didn't have to wiki it, I'm an avid collector of hot toys and usually defend their products from unjust hate. Yet I am being portrait as some sort of idiot troll, it can't be that my point has merit and is based on being a collector for over 20 years, it you don't agree with my opinion that's fine, but this is ridiculous behavior.

Again, you've done nothing wrong here. Don't worry about it. If they take the criticism over a toy personally, that is their problem.

I watched your Battle Damaged Robocop review by the way to get a feel for what to expect since I just got mine. Great review. Now THAT is a Hot Toys figure that hits all the right spots from sculpt, paint work, articulation and value. Definitely my figure of the year. Puts "big ole'" Thanos here to shame.

Winter Soldier's elbow joint is done much better, mostly because it's a smaller joint. Yes, it's noticeable but it isn't as garish as this. If they had made the joint red or black on Bucky's cyborg arm, then yeah, it would have looked bad. With Thanos here, it's a different story. The joint is large and smooth. The purple just kills the look of those arms. Hell, if they had made the joint a darker grey or a color that matched his armor and mesh instead of the color of his purple skin it might have blended in better I'm sure. The fact that they didn't even bother to sculpt any details on that joint on such a large figure is just lazy though.

thanos joints not looking good and have room for improvement, no doubt about it.
may be its a tactic to boost sales, HT already has the production of thanos 2.0 in
mind, with a much anticipated infinity guantlet! it would definitely attract more sales
if they improve the joints in version 2!

I agree with the comments on the joints. They're lazy and unfinished. They don't really bother me that much though.

What does bother me to the point where I'm skipping this release is the ankle articulation that prevents the feet from laying flat on the platform.

More importantly is that the on/off switches for the LEDs are under the battery covers and there's no way to access them unless you unscrew the cover each time. THAT to me is inexcusable. Whomever ok'd that at Hot Toys should get the boot.

Other than that, I think the figure is solid. Just not a huge character for me regardless.
