Just by going by pics the color of the suit looks too bright compared to how dark the suit looked in the film. So for anyone that owns this are the colors on the suit a lot brighter than the color of the suit on film?

Yeah Hot Toys messed up with that, the red should definitely be toned down to more of a dull red/wine color :huh

My guess would be they based the figure off set/costume photos and the figure is accurate to the real life colours. The movie was probably graded in post so it looks more muted.

They really shouldn't do that, they should make it look like the same color as how it looked in the movie. They did the same thing with MOS and it looked too light as the red was bright red and not maroon and the blue wasn't dark either. The costume on the Sideshow PF was way more accurate.

The brighter colors look much better than the drab red and blue in the movie.

I prefer screen accuracy and IMO the bright look of the suit looks too much like one from the comic, but each to their own man.

From the looks of it the CW suit is just as dark.

Forgive me for ignorance but what is the CW suit?

CW = Civil War suit

I think it's more due to the filters/settings when pics are taken. I know I'm guilty of it. I'm looking at mine in natural sunlight right now and definitely nowhere near as bright as the pics I've shared. I'll try to take a pic next to my Strike Suit Cap for comparison.

I agree that would be nice but it would add a few months onto the figure release date as they would have to wait to see how it looked in the final edit.

CW suit is the suit from the next movie, Captain America: Civil War

Edit: JayPesoz beat me to it!

Strike Cap made it there fast, did he arrive just fine?

Thanks for the clarification.

Oh that would be great, thanks bro. ;)

I wouldn't remind waiting another four months for accuracy, but that is just me, the suit looks fine as it is I am just fussy.

It's not really HT's fault cause once they get the license, the movies shares with them what the suit looks like, and they make them accordingly.
They don't make the figures after the movie. Unless it's those figures that's been out, like back to the future.
So most of the time, they don't know what type of filters would be used.

In the case of MOS, when you watch the behind the scenes, there's a lot of scenes where the color looks just like figure.
But even the actual movie has several filters, there's some scenes where the suit has a very dark blue, and some scenes has a brighter blue, like in the interrogation scene.
Sideshow Pf had the luxury of releasing it way way late. So I'm sure they fixed it before production cause the final paint was different from the proto.

I know my point is maybe they should wait then but I guess people can't wait and Hot Toys knows this so they do the best they can, with what references they have.

Yes I know the MOS suit for the HT figure is identical to the color it is in real life, but looks way off to how it looked on screen (in most scenes like the pic directly above).

If they wait til after the movie, you're looking at 1-2 year wait on every figure.
The wait is already insane even with using just the reference.

Not really, the figure is already out now and the movie was released only two months ago, that is pretty quick IMO. Personally I would rather they waited a year and get the accuracy right like Sideshow did when they released their MOS PF but that's just me.

Exactly. Take the Hulk Buster and Mark 45 for example, both figures are estimated for summer 2016... Can you imagine if they were just starting work on the prototypes now after seeing the movie? It'd be late 2017 at best. As it is, people might cancel or lose interest in the 45 since it's more than a year away, and Civil War will be out before them. Those same people will be wanting the 46 instead

Plus, aren't the reference costume pics pretty much the same ones they use for filming? You can't take into account what the filmmakers do with the settings after. If that were the case and that's what Hot Toys based their figures on, Wolf would be an all black Predator:lol

Ha very true. In fact, considering how dark AVP2 was, you could give him a second elongated head sculpt and use it as an alien figure. Too dark to tell the difference... :p
