I honestly think that AOU suffered from the Infinity War hype train, especially since it was built up at the time when AOU still hadn't come out. I also didn't like how much they kept foreshadowing Thanos and the Infinity Stones instead of simply focusing on the conflict at hand. Not only did it sort of trivialize Ultron as a threat, it also made the movie feel like it was just a "part" of a bigger whole instead of being a story of its own that fits within a continuity.

I really loved how Spader carried Ultron and I thought he was terrific. I just wish there was more care put into how the narrative was handled and I would have preferred it if they gave Ultron more interactive dialogue/screentime with the heroes themselves.

BIG problem for the movie. I think they should have left out Ultrons 'Infinity' Origin in favor of a more comic accurate storyline and made him more menacing and dangerous and calculating.

i totally agree. i loved age of ultron, and particularly enjoyed ultron himself.

he was extremely cool looking. from the mark 1 to ultimate ultron. all of them looked great. ultron mark 1 was just creepy, it was a great introduction to the character. prime is awesome, to me that look IS ultron. and ultimate ultron was bad ass and looked like he beefed up for battle.

i'm not sure what else people wanted out of the movie. i feel it did a solid job at continuing and building upon the rift between steve and tony. it fleshed out some of the characters a bit more, we learned more about the relationships between the team, and it fed the larger picture.

part of me thinks that, for some people, the movie was never going to live up to expectations. the first avengers movie was great because there wasn't really anything like it. heroes with their own franchises coming together for a movie. age of ultron was never going to live up to that. also, i think some people are just looking more towards infinity wars since that'll come closer to giving people the feeling they had for the first avengers movie.

i don't think civil war is going to suffer from this though because it's going to be hero vs hero.

but hey, i'm someone who enjoyed iron man 2, iron man 3, and the dark world.. so what do i know?

I pretty much agree with everything here (including enjoying IM 2 & 3 and Dark Word!), not much else for me to say :hi5:

This figure is gonna be a jewel in my collection next to Red Skull and A1 Loki :D

:goodpost:

My sentiments also.

My opinion is probably going to be unpopular here, but I never considered this version of Ultron to be a real threat at any point during the movie. It really didn't help that they turned him into a quippy, angsty puppet with daddy issues. I think Spader was wasted here.

The design for Ultron was great, though. Very imposing. It would have been perfect if they gave him a personality to match.

Agree- great designs and intentions and poor results. I was terribly unimpressed by the movie. Still good watch but that was it for me.

Actually, that's probably a pretty popular sentiment. :lol

He was an AI anti Stark, or at least I think Whedon was going for that. I still like AoU and, for me, it has more replay value than The Avengers. I'm getting anxious for this release.

Exactly. The movie goes out of its way to actually highlight how he was like an evil A.I. version of Stark, which I'm totally fine with given the context of the film. That said, I agree. Despite its flaws, I actually find AOU having a lot of replay value. When you watch individual scenes you can actually see a lot of brilliant moments, it's just a shame that it's a lot more messy when put together as a whole.

It usually happens on like a Wednesday or Thursday. Maybe later tonight...somethings coming. Personally I can wait a bit for this so my points for ant man, fury, Leia and fett will convert

Damn ha was excited there was a new post, I thought this might've been released. Anyone know if anything is dropping soon?

its one of four figures set to release soon I think. Supes, trooper, mk45 and something else

Yup... Usually there are insiders around who know when generally ha but since I haven't seen any pics of pallets on FB or Plastic Enemies dropping hints, today isn't the day. Dammit.

Did they end up shortening the final product? The height of the prototype looked about right to me. I mean I'm not one to bust out rulers to the figures and be a stickler for height extrapolations as they pertain to 1/6 scale, but as long as it looks roughly accurate in the sense that he's much larger than the rest of the normal sized (12") Avenger figures, I'm good. :lol
